^^^^^^^^^^^^This^^^^^^^^^ We have friends that have been to TTR 5 times. We had no idea what they were paying, and never asked. When the subject finally came up, we found out they were booking through TTR, and paying the rack rate! :aktion061: They werent even looking anywhere else. They let me book their trip last April, and they saved $100 per night!! $900 bucks difference!
That's interesting. We have noticed that too. It would be nice (and easy) to compile that data and then determine their pricing algorithm, then post it on here for people to use to their best advantage. Then again, they might not have an actual pricing formula other than just adjusting it based on daily searches and booking activity. It may just be completely random. Tracking the data would reveal it either way. That would be for only one provider though, and more than likely the larger providers like Expedia, Orbitz, etc have more sophisticated methods and formulas to determine pricing. Guarantee they've got a statistics person who has figured out a maximum profit formula just like the airlines do.
You could be right on that too Donald. We usually do a garden view near Paty-O's but definitely paid more for this trip and your idea that it might be because the garden views have been sold out does fit.
remember to clear the cookies when searching multiple times on your computer...Orbitz, Expedia, Kayak etc...all remember your queries and will inflate the price every time...also, the day of the week you look affects it as well...
Yes! Clear the cookies and cache on your computer often when searching. Do this for not only hotels, but airline searches as well. If their programs track what you are searching for the prices are bumped up. Gotta play hard to get!
