They were installing railings a foot or so above the glass walls on the balconies for each room in in Bash (good idea) when we were there in April but only during the day. Wasn’t an inconvenience though....seems to be random and in unoccupied rooms.
They mostly had all those railings done by the time we were there in early May. That was our first time in the tower and I couldn't believe the didn't have them before. Many people on our balcony, looking over the side, and leaning over when smoking would not have felt safe to me without it. I am really glad they installed them, as I had a ligament fear before the trip I would end up going over the side. "The lean"
Look at how they have the 2nd floor masters. If you lean towards the sexy pool while standing on the edge of the jacuzzi and fall it is only 6 feet down. BUT if you lean towards the quiet pool area on that glass which goes up to your knees while standing on the jacuzzi green boarder (there is no walk way on the far side of the jacuzzi, it goes right up to the glass) then enjoy the fall all the way down to next to the Mexican restaurant / gym walk way. I wonder if they fixed this yet.
Yeah I remember thinking how bad that was. Hopefully they fixed it. For me I know I have a tendency to fall, so I would end up sliding up and down the steps to get in and out of the hot tub like a snake, just to make sure that doesn't happen. Dying at TTR while having a great naked time isn't the worst way to go out, but it does fuck up future trips. Maybe someone will post if they changed this.
Hey, at least they got the place built on time, right? I think most people who were surprised at the rate they were completing the project were afraid of shortcuts like this. It does make the safety of the ground floor Jacuzzi room pretty appealing.
Design, safety, PPE and engineering fails are common all over the Caribbean. So much so, that it's become part of our sightseeing anywhere we go ... 'spot the fail/hazard'. When we travel to the DR and Cuba, we always bring a bunch of safety googles and work gloves to discreetly hand out to folks working without. They're always so grateful. Certainly tropical regulatory environments and standards differ from US, Canada and Europe, lol
