R.I. Gal requested that I post this recipe I got from Vianay (Dany's sister) so here goes: MEXICAN VEGETABLE SOUP 1 pound grpound sirloin 1 medium onion chopped 1 can (28 ounces) diced tomatoes with chilies undrained 1 package (16 ounces) frozen vegetable of blend 1 can (16 ounces) either kidney, black or pinto beans undrained 1 can (14.5 ounces) low sodium beef broth taco seasoning to taste but minimum of one packet 1 clove garlice minced In a dutchoven (or large sucepan) cook the beef, onions and garlic until the beef is completely browned. Drain the grease. Add tomatoes, vegetables, beans, broth, and taco seasoning and bring to a boil. Reduce the heat and simmer for 10 minutes uncovered. You can garnish it with shredded cheese if you like. I can't find the big cans of diced tomatoes with chilies so I use 3 10 ounce cans of Rotel diced tomatoes with chilies. The vegetable blend is your choice but Vianay uses (as do I) either a fiesta blend of mexican blend. Enjoy!!!
I'm in cancun in April too. April 19-26th. When are you two going. Losing weight for BBG too. Down 4 lbs right now and working out hard every day.
I have GOT to get on this bandwagon.. Just took the kids out to lunch and to the movies (they are on winter break this week) and I just don't know how to behave when tempted. GRRRRR!!! Glenn/Monique, We'll be at Cancun Palace April 20th - April 30th .... One of these days I tell myself I'll get to BBG, but we are Palace Resorts members and really can't pass up the deal we get. Karan .. Thanks so much for posting the recipe!! I can't wait to try it! SMOOCHES!!! Oh, and I forgot to say hello to Denise!! Thanks for the welcome!
No problem, Denise. Vianay is a wonderful cook and she has lots of recipes that are not only delicious but also good for you. I'm happy to share.
I have been doing aerobics 4 nights a week for 3 weeks now and I have not lost one pound according to the scale. BUT...... My clothes are loose and people have told me that they can tell a difference. So my point is, Do not weight yourself if you have started a workout plan. Those numbers will discourage you. :daisy: ELLABEAR424
And remember, muscle weighs more than fat so if you're working out and building muscle the scale may not move like you want it to. The proof will be in how your clothes fit. I did Curves today and came home and just didn't feel like cooking. I had soup for lunch so that really wasn't an option so I opted for a South Beach Diet meal. That and a small salad was quite tasty and satisfing.
Good Job! That is the key. Do not eat more than you need. So often we eat way more than we need to. I can't even tell you how many times I have went out to lunch and came back to work feeling like crap because I was too full. Why do we do that to ourselves? Btw - that is my daughter in the pic, Not me. If I had her little shape - I wouldn't have any worries. lol Ellabear424
A good trick is to ask your waiter to put 1/2 of your meal in a to go container before it even gets to your plate. That way you're not tempted to overeat as it isn't sitting on the plate tempting you. If the waiter won't do it then just ask for the container to be brought out with your meal and do it yourself. Try it...it works!!!
