The grand oasis viva was Absolutely excellent and me and my wife enjoyed it to the fullest. It's in a beautiful location with palm trees, clear blue water, relaxing music. I stayed there for 7 days and I felt very comfortable. It was my birthday and upon arrival staff made a special note and I was pleasantly surprised all day. I was very flattered with thier services. It is right across the street from a flea market, some restaurants. It's also on the bus route , which is a very easy way to travel. The food was fantastic and loved it !!! Steak , rice, corn, chicken, omelets whatever you want. Now ....

STAFF-- hands down the staff made sure I am coming back. My boy Vicente at the bar , has excellent service, friendly and I really enjoyed talking to him, quality employee. Housekeeping , Elisabeth and her co workers are exceptional and thank you guys again for all you have done for us. Adrian, Abraham and Benny made my night life entertaining and are very funny!! Aniel and xochilt were absolutely fantastic, very helpful and friendly. Yuridia, angel are Absolutely fantastic !!! Giovani and William at the muerde mucho were the best waiters and servers !!! And Lisette and Adriana were lovely and friendly. Thanks again for the experience and thanks to moonlight chef and staff for a excellent vacation !!

Great place to chill for the "All-Inclusive" environment. For a fair price you can enjoy 5 restaurants with great food and service! Point out Juan Mtz. and Jesus Arella who gave us the best service in the restaurant "Silallabar". Very good food and hospitality. Moreover, the hotel is clean and the service in the reception was nice and welcoming.
It surely gives back value for the money!
Room Tip: Rooms at the higher levels in front of the sea!

When we first read the reviews, we were a little nervous about what to expect. Mostly everything that everyone says is spot on! We went in with a clear idea of what were getting! Since everyone else helped much with setting those expectations, I wanted to make sure that we did the same.

We traveled Novemeber 14-18 with a groupon and stayed on the 9th floor. This was the end of their slow season.

Pros: The view from our room was beautiful and we had everything that we needed. We didn't opt to pay the $20/night for the balcony. Room had huge sliding windows which made it perfect to see and hear the ocean. The room was also SUPER CLEAN which is very important! 2 great pools, the infinity pool is just gorgeous, and a swim up bar in the other. All the staff were very nice and friendly all the time! Drinks were delicious and flowing. The white box resturant was hands down the best dinner!! You have to make a reservation first thing in the morning (like 7am or it fills up) but it's more than worth it! Trust me, most enjoyable meal of the whole trip. The Schillabar was also good. Juice at the buffet was tasty. Drinks in the VIP lounge were great! Mambo mango--YUM!! Hotel itself is very clean and grounds are kept very nice! Mini fridge is stocked every day with a couple waters, soda, and beer. If you're going on an excursion or shopping, the bus is merely 9.5 pesos (75 cents) and will take you anywhere in the hotel zone strip quickly and cheaply.

Cons: The cons of this hotel seem to be universal. The mini fridge is not cold. Maybe 50 degrees or so ferienheight. This seemed to be consistent with everyone. The air condition was also not very strong. The room was constanstly humid and muggy. All our things just seemed to always be damp/musty, including all our clothes, bedding, etc. The food everywhere except the 2 resturants mentioned above was just OK. You wont starve, but it certainly isn't anything to write home about. There where many times when the food at the buffet was cold or just plain tasteless. We got sushi a few times and while it wasn't fantastic, it was a decent lunch option. The only thing we ate from the Whimpy Bar was the lays chips since none of the other stuff looked appealing. The black hole and the mexican resturant never opened while we were there. On our first night there it rained very hard and it seemed that there were areas around the hotel where it was leaking. The 9th floor had puddles everywhere. The staff were quick to put up signs and towels. This didn't really affect us in anyway, we just went around it. The safe cost $7 dollars a night but it's worth it for piece of mind. Wifi is $30 for 5/days, or $10 for 24 hours. There are also a few other options. In my opinion it should be free but it's your choice to select it or not.

Overall, you're not paying a 5 star price, so don't expect a 5 star hotel. You are, however, going to get a clean place to hang out, enjoy some sun, drinks, and friendly staff. That for us was worth it!

I would almost prefer if some of the reviews complained about crazy topless partiers . It all sounds nice but no mention of a great party scene. Without that it is just another nice hotel and not TTR style. Hopefully that changes as the crowd turns over and the concept is fully applied.

Totally Agree. But, like Steve said it will take some time to transition. We hope after the spring crews start arriving that the reports will start to reflect a more "active" crowd.

I want to start out by saying that this was our first trip to Cancun (my wife and myself) so I really don't have any other resort to compare to The Grand Oasis Viva. However, I can honestly say that our experience at Oasis Viva was nothing short of Paradise. The first thing that my wife and I noticed was the amazing atmosphere that is set by the employees. The moment you walk in you are treated like a member of their family. You are constantly being pampered and they make sure that you are taken care of from morning to night.

Example: My wife and I spent our 10yr Anniversary at Oasis Viva and were offered a special dinner and one of their awesome places to eat. However, due to inclement weather, our reservation was cancelled and my wife and I had to figure out where to eat. Well, the management staff immediately addressed our concerns and with in 10-15 minutes placed us in their finest restaurant (The White Box). We were treated like royalty at this place and were given an amazing meal put together by their chef.

The other restaurants were also amazing and had a great variety of food.

The bars through out the resort had amazing staff and the drinks just kept on coming. One of my favorite bartenders (Domingo) had my drink already made before I made it to the counter to order, he was awesome!

The Coyote Bar was designed for the younger crowd and put together some great entertainment. The music was too loud at times; however, the dancing shows were done very well by some very accomplished performers.

The housekeeping staff did a great job with keeping the rooms clean/organized and always made sure that the mini-bar was stocked every day (pop, water, beer).

Overall I can honestly say that we will be back for another trip. Our first experience in Cancun was nothing short of paradise and I want to thank Oasis Viva for making our trip the best Anniversary yet.

The only unfortunately thing that I experienced was that I laid my cell phone down for 10-15 minutes in the VIP room. When I had an employee look for it I learned that it was gone. Not a big deal but I was upset about losing my phone and I don't blame Oasis Viva for it in any way, shape, or form.

Please keep up the amazing work and thank you once again for making our 10yr Anniversary something we will NEVER forget.

We've just spent a 5-day vacation in Oasis Viva. It was very nice experience, we enjoyed very much staying in this hotel. The room was very specious, the territory was nice and very relaxing. We also enjoyed food in the gastronimic restaurant The White Box - I strongly reccomend it to visit. I would like to say special thanks for excellent service all the personal, especial thanks to girls, who found our bag with photo camera ( forgotten in lobby) and secure it for us, and big thanks to Jesus, who was very responsive to all our requests. I would reccomend this hotel to my friends and will love to stay here again.

This was the second hotel my bf and I stayed in while in Cancun so I feel I did not give this hotel a fair chance given that the first hotel was outstanding. Had we come straight to this hotel we would have thought it was better...but we couldn't help but compare everything to our first experience.

Having said that, this is a great hotel right on the beach. The room and facilities were great, staff for the most part were very helpful and friendly and the food and drinks provided were pretty good.

I was not overly impressed by the buffet provided for breakfast and some nights they only provided a la carte for dinner which didn't give you much choice. They had several restaurants...but it would have been nice to be able to just rock up to a buffet for dinner rather than having to choose from a very select menu. My boyfriend is vegetarian and so there was not much that he could eat.

The biggest problem with this hotel was probably that there was a charge for the internet and also charges for small things like room service, which we expected to be part of the package.

There is not too much to complain about really when you have an all inclusive deal and despite all the bad reviews, this isn't a bad place to stay.

Having booked an adults only vacation at a 4,5 * with Sunwing, I had certain expectations. In our first room, my friend and I complained about the AC, minibar fridge, and that the bathroom exhaust fan did not work. The lackey they sent up had no tools and spent 30 minutes trying to convince us that everything was working properly. With our next complaint, lackey #2 came up with a digital thermometer as his only tool. We were offered a smaller room whose AC worked a bit better (Inadequate for summer in Cancun, but it was November so we took the room). Minibar temperature was still high and still no working bathroom exhaust.

The buffet restaurant was only open for breakfast on weekdays and the other restaurants were basically pre-cooked stuff plated according to your order. Big waste of time.
The fancy White Box Restaurant was nicer, but this is where I first noticed them taking our empty beer glasses from our table and refilling them (touching the tap) without washing them. They did the same at the Coyote Bar, where many of the restaurant drinks were poured. This seems to be standard practice at this 4.5* resort.

Hotel room humidity was bad: properly wringed shorts hung on the towel rack were still wet after 2 days.

Interesting trip report that last one....I don't know about anyone else but we have always had trouble getting things to dry in Mexico with humidity...however, living in a humid place anyway (although we know there are more humid places) we expect that. That is why we travel with more than one suit. heehee

Is it bad that it was kind of exciting to see something other than "It is a nice place to go"....I want to hear that there are some crazy people there. Guess that trip report will come after Feb 18. I promised the hubby that I would be the same crazy girl from TTR there.....heeehee. Just hoping mostly for the friendly atmosphere that we are accustomed to and not everyone around the pool reading books.
