I have some freckles though Karen. Maybe that is the difference but last I looked I have no freckles on my kitty.I haven't been back since and nope I spent over 5000 on laser and hardly in skid row. But I have some scars to prove it was too intense.

Some technicians won't do laser if you have a tan, or they will turn down the intensity, which will negatively impact the result. You are supposed to have been out of the sun for 6 weeks prior to a treatment, which essentially means that for any area but Brazilian, you should start treatments in the fall so you can be done by the following spring (treatments are usually 6-7 weeks apart).

The risk with a tan is that the laser will burn you. Darker skin tones will absorb the heat from the laser, and that can cause burns. The more contrast between hair colour and skin colour, the more likely that the laser will target your hair, not your skin (the laser will be drawn to the darkest pigmentation).

Wasn't implying that you went to a dodgy place for treatments, gf. I know you are a smart cookie! You are more fair than me, so that is probably the difference.

I wouldn't advise anyone who has not had a lot of treatments to ask the technician to crank up the intensity. Rely on the expertise of the technician, but if your results are not progressing well and you have had no adverse effects so far during treatments, try an increased intensity. I have no scarring or freckles from lasering, and no matter how high the intensity has been, I only get redness post-treatment for less than 1 hour.
