Stand up booth about 2 or 3 weeks before we leave, so I can dance and tan, and don't get any bulls-eye on my ass or fun lil tan lines anywhere.. And 30 when I get there. We do a sunscreen train. Works well and everyone is well covered
We just spend every possible minute we can out in the sun lol i guess we are sun addicts...wished i lived in a climate like cancun and just soak in the rays everyday lol
I bring sunscreen, and also some sunburn cream just in case. Also a well timed lunch helps out great.
I fake baked for a month before we went. Of course, the first week of tanning I could only do 7 minutes at a time for 3 times. Didn't burn while there but did use 50 sunblock. No, tanning is not good for skin but it has to be better than burning. Did sunscreen about 3 times a day while there.
I don't fake and bake...I just grease up a LOT when I'm there and tend to stay out of the sun for a couple of hours after lunch. Just one suggestion... don't forget the scalp. I fried mine on the second day and it hurt all week then peeled, making me look like I had bad dandruff for a few days (my hair is really dark)
I get a spray tan so that i am not tempted to rush to get a tan and end up with a burn. I actually try hard not to get too much sun at TTR and usually do pretty well, but I got WAY too much this last trip in September because it was so hot I was in the water all day. My skin looked pretty distressed when I got home, and 2 weeks later it's still looking pretty unhappy. Obviously you have to be really careful during the hottest months of the year (June - Sept).
I burn terribly if I don't have a base. I tanned for a couple months before and used the JWow bronzer/tanning lotion to darken up a little more. I slathered myself in huge spf sunscreen a couple times a day, burned only slightly, and came home with a KILLER tan... So sad to see it go though.
I am way too white to show up without some base tan, or I would have to cover up the whole time - I'm too distractible to remember to re-apply sunblock every 30 minutes! I'm tan in my TTR trip pictures because of tanning bed trips beforehand. I started with level 5 (high pressure) beds that give nice color and don't burn, but then two weeks before the trip I alternate daily visits with level 5 and level 3 beds for some skin conditioning. The high pressure beds block the burning rays, but you have to be exposed to some of those rays to prepare your skin for the tropical sun (remember, I'm in Seattle so there is no "natural" preparation up here outside of August - lol). In two weeks I get a nice base color that way, and the only sunburn I have gotten from Cancun was on my scalp when I didn't wear a hat on the Boobs Cruise. In April I also got a high quality spray on tan before the trip, and it lasted most of the trip. It is supposed to last a week, and it pretty much did, even though I was in the sexy pool every day for many hours. I paid $50 for it, and was very happy with the results. You will want to do this a few days before and wait at least 24 hours before showering to really give it a chance to soak in. Only problem with spray on tans is white night too soon, the tan will rub off on the white clothing. After 4-5 days it is not so bad, but within the first few days you won't want to wear anything white.
