For 7500 you can rent a 2 bed house in SM18 with security and a pool - Renta mensual de Casa con Alberca en Cancún Quintana Roo (RETORNO DEL SOL EN SM 18) | MELROM 5066 I'd look around a bit more if I were you.
You're right, I will keep looking. My biggest problem so far has been time. We're pretty busy at work. Thanks!
I have to agree with previous posters. $5500 is very expensive for a studio, in my opinion, even by El Ceviche... unless maybe it's very luxurious. It's been awhile since I've looked, but I feel like a studio in that area should go for around $3000. If you can spend up to $7500, you should be able to find a pretty nice two-bedroom apartment in the El Ceviche area. I'd look around a little more. I just looked around 2 minutes on vivastreet (Casas en renta Cancún y Departamentos en renta Cancún) and found a few 2-bedroom apartments near El Ceviche for $6000 or less.
This should help you with the bus routes: Downtown Cancun Map Use the arrows in the upper left corner to adjust/move the area(s).
And so I shall I'm just a bit worried because I'm staying at the hotel while I find something, and I don't want them to think I'm taking advantage of them. My biggest problem is not knowing the city, so when the add says "behind burger king" or something like that, I have no idea where that is. And not all the references are as easy to find in google maps. Thanks again!
Wel, thank you everybody. I'm happy to announce that I'm all settled in in an apartment in SM 20, which was cheap-ish (5500) and very convenient (only a short walk away from where the bus stop to the HZ; the one next to the Extra and the little cart with the cochinilla pibil tortas). I've been here for a week. I don't have much furniture, but I have a bed and a refrigerator. Those are the basics. Thanks everybody for the help.
