September 2014 story We were there last September and had a pack experience that could have turned bad, but happily didn't. We had just popped off the booze cruise (yes...probably a little under-defended) and the wife poured herself into the sexy pool while I hit the restroom. When I returned, there were 3 or 4...maybe 5 young men (21-22-ish) surrounding her and ferrying her around in the pool. Apparently a group of young Israelis had just landed at the resort for the first time ever and had swooped down on the sexy pool looking to scoop up whatever fresh meat was available. They were groping, fondling, tugging...poking!...and otherwise molesting my lovely wife, who was rebuffing as politely and firmly as a post boobs-cruise person can. What started as a friendly "Hey, how you doin?", had quickly escalated into a potential gang rape situation. I hopped in the pool and intervened, and they backed off, but immediately turned their attentions toward whatever pair of boobs seemed closest and least defended. The most striking detail is that these guys weren't even drunk yet. I took it upon my drunk self to further intervene, and disabuse these guys of whatever notions they had brought with them to the resort. The first guy was totally unreceptive, but corralled three of the other guys, and tried to fully explain the concept of the resort and the way they should deport themselves if they wanted to enjoy their stay. It took about an hour of breaching the age/culture gap, but it seemed to have an impact. I don't know if there were any other incidents that day, but by Day 2 their little group had control of themselves and were (reasonably) well-behaved. I found out that they had anticipated an Ibiza-style fuckfest (promoted by their travel agent) and they wanted to hit the ground running. I don't know if this attitude is indicative of every "single-guy group", but the fact that it exists is probably good notice to everyone. I don't know if anything would have escalated with these guys to something irretrievably awful, but I like to think level-headed diplomacy can go a long way to avoiding a shit storm.
I think you handled this situation well. Groups of guys on the first day of a trip to TTR just need a good expectation check. We were there in November for a few days and actually had great experiences with stag parties from Wales and Brasil that were each there for the first time. All were very respectful and fun to be around. But, with any stag party, you can imagine guys will try to let loose a bit more than if girlfriends or wives were around. So, best to set them straight early. These single guys (and ladies) can be a blast to be around as well. Pervs can be men, women, singles or married. Just be safe out there and keep an eye on your partner all the time, or make sure they are with trusted friends.
We usually go to Temptation in a group of 8. This trip it's just is and one other couple...anyone gonna be there from April 3-9 that wants to be a dancing/bathroom/creeper defender with the mrs? My idea to help deter weirdos filming and taking pics of wifey by the pool will be to grab my phone immediately go up to the guy's face and start filming him and taking pictures. if he asks wtf I'm doing I'll tell him I'm starting a new website www.vacationcreepers.com and he's going to be famous!
