REMINDER to all JUNE JUNKIES!!! Don't forget to turn your data roaming off on your smart phone when you leave for Mexico. If you forget, the charges will be horrible!! I know because I forgot one year. Even though I didn't use it, the phone still retrieves data without you accessing that data!!

Or purchase a different data plan that you can use internationally!!

I purchase the Mexico plan and 50 international text messages from AT&T while in the airport and turn off the Mexico plan in the car on the way home. I exchange a text with the kiddo/mother-in-law wach morning and each evening. Other than that, the phone is either off or on airplane mode...

Yep, we do the same......unfortunately it doesn't keep the background data turned off such as email, FB, etc. even though you don't access it. Everytime I turned on my phone to call or text family, it racked up data charges. I learned that trip to turn data roaming OFF :wink3:. I use my phone for socializing. Curtis, not so much. Mine racked up charges, his did not.

Yep. You are correct. You need to turn data roaming off, too.

With Pauline's mom in poor health, we bought both the AT&T Mexico 80 minute voice and 200 international text messaging. $30 each, but money well spent.

I'm putting a reminder on my phone now to turn off data roaming at DFW before we board for TTR.
