I couldn't get my Garmin to sync near Playa Del Carmen. I tried a few different places and I couldn't get it to work. I don't bother bringing it anymore.
We don't run but always go for a walk every morning. Wide running path with many avid runners. Surprising how many runners there are. Seems like an ideal set up for anyone who enjoys running!
Turn right out of the hotel towards downtown and you can run for 3 km along the cycle path largely uninterrupted by entrance ways after the first 500 metres. Turning left you can run also but there are a lot more hotels and entrance ways to watch out for. Definitely dont run on the road itself, you'll get squashed in the first 5 minutes!
Thanks Steve! I tried to map out a 10k route which is my normal jog on the right turn out and back, but I didn't like the options I came up with that close to downtown...the left gave me a better straight shot...even with the driveways/intersections. And yea fair point...it's sidewalks only in Mexico for me which is why I asked...even in pedestrian friendly Minnesota my on-street running segments are carefully chosen to have wide shoulders, low traffic and the ability to dive into a bush at a moment's notice.
Excellent question, Nate. I will be looking to stay on my running regiment so I will be looking for for a 5K to 10K route. I saw a lot of people running on the sidewalks last year and I am thinking about getting it a shot this year too. I use my iPad Nano(which has the NIKE+) with the Navigation that should map out my run as well as the distance. Anyone else going in April that needs a jogging buddy, let us know. I think it would safer to run as couple or group.
We run nearly every morning we are there (great cure for a hangover). The red colored path extends miles in either direction from the resort. Every 500 meters is marked with a triangle shaped marker --- including one of them at the north entrance of Temptation. As Steve said, when you leave the resort if you go to the right (north) it will have fewer people and driveways/entrances to deal with.... though going south is not bad at all. Either way... there will be many others out enjoying the path, but it is seldom crowded.
I should have thought to offer the same. If anyone wants an early morning slow-jog 10k roughly 11min miles or so, feel free to ping me. I'll probably be out each of my non-travel days. Fri-Mon 2/7-2/10
Sounds good to me. If we get a group big enough we could make it on a 3 to 5 mile run at a good steady pace in the AM. We will be there 4/10 to 4/18. Hope we can get some other peeps to run with us in the Am. All level runners welcome.
