We paid $3000 for 10 night trip, ocean view, including airfare from NYC, through Expedia. Best ocean view we've had of 3 trips (the first 2 were by volleyball court). We were on 3rd floor, 2nd room in from the end closest to ocean above the ramp up to large jacuzzi. It was noisy though, except from about 3am until 10am. Not ready for Premier yet, but think we'll probably do it in a year or two.
I noticed the roof, as well, when we were up in the tower looking down and thought it was odd design flaw
Don't forget to factor in free nights and weeks. We have had 5 (7nights) free weeks during our membership years. And even you can't beat free searching websites

That's true, to an extent. My new membership has 5 nights free in the Penthouse. I was told it's $2,000 per night value, so I said take it away and I'll pay $10K less. All of a sudden it didn't work that way I can't help but think the Penthouses are built solely to serve 'free nights' with Premier memberships. I cant see many people booking them off the site at the regular price but it seems many are being offered free nights there as part of their Premier package.
It is all about the members deck and premier bar, the best bar on the property, ( remember the sad lil portable membrs bar-stand on the beach, that it replaced?), the members' bartenders (Gerry and Adan) and the 60 day guarantee reservation for any week of the year. Those are our fav perks...besides the awesome nightly rate we pay. We pay the same for NYE as we pay for Week 8 or Easter. Can't find a decent AO for NYE for what we pay as members at TTR.
I did an extensive search thru discount sites and then on the TTR site itself for availability and rates for the Penthouse. I can't find any nights it shows as available so I don't think they are even selling them yet. The master suite rate ranges from $700-$950 so that gives you a frame of reference for possible Penthouse prices.
