Well my problem is logistics..I come from a very small town in the mountains...The nearest "mall" is a 2 hour drive and ordering dresses and such off the net is not a good idea for someone with my build..I just did not want to over pack, tend to freeze and my husband looks darn good in his jeans and nice polos..oh well will pack some dresses and khakis for the hubby...sigh..should have went on a cruise..didn't know the place or the people were so uptight..
Jeans That also depends on the cruise. We have watched some get turned away, and some not. Unsure why, maybe it depends on how busy they are, or how big you tip. I see no need to take the chance of ruining a romantic/fun meal. Six trips to Mexico and never took jeans. I wear jeans in the backyard while working. Maybe I am just old. Cal
Rest assured that the folks at TTR are anything but uptight. You'll have a great vacation and be coming back for years. The dress code for the resturants is just one of the very few sticky points with major differences on here. The other two are cameras and "reserving" pool chairs. Hey, even in paradise they have different opnions of where to place all the goodies. :angel2: You're idea of Jeans and nice tops and polos will serve you very well. It's what I wear. Personally I get upset at the shorts and tee shirts that come in for the very same exact reason as Larry (Hedoaddict) wants to see better than jeans. :xyxthumbs: So smile and dream of the warm temps of Cancun and go and have fun. Next year plan for your repeat vacation during our May reunion and I'll buy you a drink as you tell me everything you love about your new favorite place. :daveandmo: Jamie
Jeans Guys, I wouldnt think to much about this topic, very rare to meet an uptight person at temptations, usually the exact opposite, after all the trips there that ive taken , ive come to learn that they just are trying to avoid drunk people stumbling into the restaurants with swim clothes or tank tops and shorts, as the specialty restaurants are set up to be rather fancy and give you a phenominal dinner and service... I firmly believe that as long as you look decent , you will not have a problem, like ive said, i always wear jeans and a polo shirt, and the woman ive gone with have worn a sundress or something simple.... this is def not a topic that will affect your vacation at all, just remember you can book multiple days at once, so that your not standing in line every day and wasting valuable drinking and sun time.... Go enjoy your trip and you will post that we were right when you get back.... Have a drink for me
Thanks back13 and Jamie..I guess dressing in any clothes besides nurse scrubs is a treat for me..Not going to stress and just take a "little of everything"..plus my lingerie rocks..lol..I'll have a drink or two or three for you guys!!!
Sorry, I guess I sounded a little too strong. As I said, it was just an opinion. Would I complain is someone was at the next table in jeans? Absolutely not. The nice thing about TTR is a huge mix of people, who are all there to have a great time. I don't think you will find up tight people there at all. Remember "Nobody knows you and nobody gives a s**t" Larry.
You didn't sound strong at all honey..The hubby and I have never been on a vacation like this..flying and so on and I'm just a little stressed about the packing situation. My mother, daughter and I were in a terrible car accident in July..My mom is still bedridden from it an I really need a break..Just want to relax, laugh, drink and be around some fun people..The added pounds from shoulder surgey and steroid injections is just making this girl want to cover up a little more than usual...lol
Suzieq, let me assure you, you don't need to cover up at all. My wife had major cancer surgery which left her with a foot long scar on the back of her leg. The follow up drugs from the radiation added some pounds for her as well. In three trips to TTR since then she has never felt one moment of embarrasment form anyone there. Once you get there you will find that there are all sizes and shapes of men and women. Minimal clothing seems to make everyone more accepting of differences in people. So go and dress the way you want. Sexy is more of an attitude than any particular appearance. Larry
Thanks..I really appreciate hearing that..It makes me feel alot better and I hope we meet some nice people down there like you guys..My heart and respect goes out to your wife and anyone who has had cancer..this coming from and ICU nurse and daughter of an ovarian cancer survivor..Good luck to you guys, may you have many more trips...cheers...Suzanne
In my case, I had jeans and thin slacks. After spending the whole day in the sun, it was much more comfortable to wear slacks to dinner....and then change to shorts for the show/patios. It was nice to dress up for dinner and the food/service was awesome. TIP - make your reservations at 9:45am - they were there at that time that day and taking them. If you get there at 10, it's when the line is longest.
