At this time next Thursday I should be on the beach at Golden. We've never done isla of mujeres, but seriously considering taking a day trip to it this year, How do we get from GP to the isla? What is accepted on the isla for currency (pesos or US)? Any favorite places on the Isla? Book the golf cart ahead of time somewhere or just get to the isla and find one? GO!!!!
Closest ferry for you would be the one by Riu Cancun. (Playa Caracol) Pesos is better but you can use USD at rip off exchange rates. Find a cart once you get there, but get there early. We did the island last year and loved it with no issues. We rented our cart at the ferry terminal in Cancun before we boarded. the cart was in perfect shape no fuel issues as I have heard from local ( on island rentals ) , yes it was 8 or $10 more but no issues at all ! We used USD and like Steve said probably ripped off a bit but for the little amount we spent there it didn't much matter to us. It was all booze LOL. Thanks Steve, I've never used pesos. If I go that route, where is the best exchange rate at or near GP for converting US currency to pesos.
We always stop at the drive through Corona store and at the restaurant at South Point for a nice cold beer and ceviche.
All the cambios offer the same rate within a couple of tenths of percent so anywhere that is an exchange house. I'm not sure of the closest to GP.
I think there is a ferry right by Riu Peninsula also. I may do that if cruise on 7th doesn't come through.
