The ferry by the pirate ship only runs from late morning to Isla and returns from Isla about 6pm. You can find the times on Ultramar website. The port is called Embarcadero. (sp) Have fun ya'll.

I don't know if I would do a Isla trip because of you're short stay. If you just want to get out and about then, it may be a good trip for you.

The Joint, which has been mentioned, is on the south end of the island and is a fun spot. They have recently made some improvements, adding a brand new bar, and unfortunately have gotten rid of their "4 beers and guacamole for $10" deal. The place that has the "beer so cold it'll make your teeth hurt" also has a small sign that says "no groups of more than 6 people allowed." We stopped with a group of 8 a few years ago, and they were not happy that we were louder than they thought we should be. And by the way, the beer isn't even that cold there!

Soak up as much resort time as you can!! Isla is great but if you are at TTR for only 4 days I would stay on the resort. However, if you are early birds, you could head over there first thing in the morning and get back to TTR early afternoon.

We will be on Isla Feb. 7 - 13 before coming to TTR Feb. 13 - 23. We did a similar trip about 3 years ago and enjoyed our "quiet" time on Isla. There is a good night vibe on Isla but definitely different from that at TTR. Lot's of great places to eat and drink. The golf cart trip around the island is a must do. Check out Trip Adviser's Forum on Isla Mujeres in the upper right hand corner for frequently asked questions about Isla. Look Vicki and myself up and we will be more than happy to share our experiences on Isla.

We would highly recommend a ferry trip to Isla.We do it every trip as a change of pace. We always rent a golf cart for the day. Posada Del Mar is a small resort on the main drag across from the public beach. They have an outdoor eating area under a thatch roof with very good food
Romi is the restaurant /bar manager. Great guy
North Beach is awesome for swimming & skinny dipping.

We went over a few years ago and did the tour as well it was a nice quiet day checked out some of the shops as well. We ate at a place at the end of the main drag I want to say it was called Steve's. It was a guys name I remember that much as we had been to Jamaica and had gone to Rick's Cafe. I remember the place we rented from had assured me I had received his best cart ( use the term loosely ) I was wondering if the cart would make it around the island I was feeling pretty bad until a couple of German guys came around with a cart from the same place sounding even worse than the one we rented. I say do its a fun day just know that the carts have been well used.

I think we will try the regular ferry this time as well, but it's tough to beat the boob's cruise ferry!!
