The best beach is the North Beach. Beautiful beach and is quieter, meaning no kids. Has a few bars right there on the beach. We go on our own almost very year as "recovery day". Take the Ultramar and rent a golf cart for the day. Be sure to drive to point sur (southern most tip) to see the beach and ruins. Drive back on the east side of the island to see the amazing beaches, and homes you can buy! Many little places to eat and drink and shop. A great day, highly recommended.
We used to go over to Playa Norte years ago. Glad you can still just walk down to the beach and hang out. There was a palapa bar we frequented every year. We would stand waist deep in the ocean and we would here the lady hollering, "Hola" we would wade in and trade our empty bottles for some cold ones she brought out in a bucket. Spent several hours hanging out. Always picked a day in the middle of the trip. Jeff
We do a half day trip to Isla every year. It's a nice to get away for the day riding around on golf carts and looking at the scenery. We highly recommend it
We rented a golf cart and drove to the Turtle Farm, found a great beach club for lunch, shots & some jacuzzi time, and drove around the rest of the island. There's gorgeous scenery to take in on the other side of the island. Then we spent some time on the beach. It was awesome. I'd highly recommend going.
