I couldn't agree more... any country that we would move to we would have to adapt, learn the lanuage etc... and its been alot longer than 15 yrs Canada has been bending over.... Could you imagine if us Temptation people all picked up and went to Saudia or Iraq etc... and behaved like we do when we are there...I think we would be shot.
You got that right! The freedoms that we enjoy have been bought over a long period of time at a great price: those who would restrict them have never known them and if they ever do get to this point they will probably need a few hundred years to do it I think we've got to react courageously to defend our freedoms and this includes requiring those who come to our shores to respect our laws if not our customs: France has gone just a little further and said some of the customs of fundamentalist Islam- like covering for women- threatens the established freedoms and rights and will not be permitted Although we might disagree on where the line should be drawn hurrah for the French for having the courage to take a stand! They make themselves a target but it's that or surrender- and they're clearly not prepared to do that ___________________
"honour killing is just a term to hide behind while committing crimes against women. In any other culture it would just be abuse against women. At the same time I don't hold the entire muslim faith responsible for the actions of a few. The same way I wouldn't blame all blacks for crime just because one may have robbed me. Hell I've met immigrants from England that were unappreciative pricks and should have just gone home. People can be ignorant ^$$hats no matter where they come from.
Al Zawahiri (I won't bother to look up his name exactly) second in command in Al Queda behind Osama bin Laden is said to have studied in the US for a time- during which he became convinced of the decadence of the West and determined it needed to be punished and corrected from deviating from the right path- and he elected himself to act as the instrument of Allah to inspire others to inflict this punishment Easily understood within their construct we nevertheless cannot accept their world view and must be prepared to do whatever is reasonably necessary to protect ourselves and the progress we've made in the last five hundred years as we moved from the thinking of the dark ages in which these extremists still live Are they "representative" of Islam generally; probably not but the Khoran is an uncompromising piece of literature for those who take it seriously
I am of the firm belief that all religions are nuts. If you have visited the Creation Museum in Kentucky you will be convinced that there are some seriously screwed up minds in our western society, much as there are in Muslim societies. I also agree that if you are coming to live in a country, you are choosing to live there because it is the country it is. If you want to turn it into a version of where you came from, well, that's just wrong. The fact that Canada (along with Britain, Holland et al) are trying to 'accommodate' new immigrants and their 'cultural' and 'religious' values is just pandering stupidity IMHO. Of course, speaking out against on the subject is taboo and one will be labeled a racist or whatnot by the overly polite and politically correct.
Al Zawahiri is no more a representative of Islam than David Koresh or Jim Jones were of the Christian faith. Anyone can be a psycho and claim that one god or another was giving the orders. I've always said 2 things need to happen to win the war against these fanatics. 1. We need to clearly separate these idiots from normal peaceful religious people. Stop calling it radical Islam because people just drop the radical. Just call them terrorists because they really don't represent any religion. 2. The people who are innocent need to stand up and clearly say that idiots like Al Zawahiri don't represent them. Denounce the violence and radicals. Otherwise your silence equals support in the public eye. It's the same with everything. If the thousands of peaceful protesters at the G20 in Toronto stood up against the couple hundred of violent losers that caused all the damage would it have been that bad?
The screwed up ones are the fanatical followers of Al Queda and the Taliban, for whom Wahhabism is their path, this is the ultra strict interpretation of the Koran and follows a rigorous legal code; basically complete rejection of the modernity and the west, although since it was first preached back in the 18th century, it has been adapted to be even harsher, so that even Saudi Arabia (where Wahhabism was born) is a target of jihad as they have dealings with westerners. For the most part, Islam is fairly tolerant so it's important not to lump all muslims in to the same pot. Anyway, sorry about the history lesson, back to the original bit about how to deal with immigration; during the UK election, one of Cleggs policies was to give ammnesty to illegal immigrants; i thought this was quite a good idea, as atleast they would be on the radar, getting taxes out of people who sign up, instead of just losing them and the money they could've been contributing in to the economy..... but it got slaughtered by everyone in the media and politics .... now they are introducing an annual cap on immigration. Personally I feel the UK government has gone too far to compensate for the needs of immigrants; putting their housing/medical/financial requirements before those legitimate citizens who have contributed all their lives to society. I think they have even considered accepting Sharia Law in some courts which is a joke. Little is done to force integration, although many accept British culture there are many who will not, and create their own societies and congregate together, to the point where you can feel like the minority in your own backyard. I'm not saying i am against immigrants; i think they are very important contributors to the economy and have made our society richer and more diverse (to a point); what i am against is the constant pandering from the government but most of all is the lack of integration, the expectation that the host country should bow to their needs and their culture.
