If you don't think it's heated occasionally, Next time it feels warm, go jump in one of the other pools and you should get a pretty quick determination. Last January there were a few nights it had light steam coming off of it while the sports(skinny dipping) and quiet pool were like ice water. On a couple of trips it was warm for about 3 days and then gradually cooled down. Like they bring it up a bit and then shut it off for a few days........
There is no heater! The steam is coming from other activities! I was there in Dec & April and It was tooooo cold to get in. July it was warm enuf. But I am from south texas where it is 100 on Christmas day.
Can you imagine how much water they lose in those pools/day? I'm guessing the refill water isn't as warm as what's coming out.
I would have to say I am pretty sure. We were with a guy that knows pools pretty well(an installer.... fuck you Lenni! hahahaha) and he did a quick inspect and me being in the A/C industry we kind of figured on how it would work. The thing is that it would actually be very smart for the resort to run the heater like that as it is just using one source to power another rather than implementing a whole other system of costs. The catch is that there also has to be a thermostat to control the temp and what is being released from the A/C system otherwise the cooling effect wouldn't be working as well. I think the resort would rather have people complain about the pool being to cold than their room being to warm. I have to agree though that you could only leave it to an engineer to dream something like that up... "looks good on paper, it has to work!" You go ahead and do your diggin my friend but please do not be an alcohol abuser! Never EVER leave your alcohol unattended. ALWAYS travel with mug in hand. You will find more answers that way.
December is a winter month...yes, even Mexico has a winter. You won't find any snow, but the nights are cooler and the days don't get as warm. That means the water in the pool will be warmer in September than you'll find in December. Steve gives some good info on rainfall, air, pool and ocean temperatures on the "Weather" tab on the CancunCare main page.
I have spent the last 2 weeks in it. If the Sun was blazing down you could jump in to cool off and if the wind and rain was battering you then you could jump in to keep warm. Perfect Although there were some funny scum bubbles floating around in it by the end of my holiday. I think someone was sick in it :/
When I see those scum bubbles in the pool at the end of the day, I optimistically believe it's due to the many spilled drinks and all the sunscreen washing off their (and my) drunken bodies. I have a hot tub in my backyard at home - lotion and spilled drinks will definitely contribute to that scum appearing.
