Figures....first trip in 5 years that we don’t get the travel insurance (cancel for any reason), and now we are faced with a decision of cancelling
What a mess. We have nonrefundable reservations for early May. Seems very sketchy that travel restrictions of some sort will not catch us by then. Toying with the idea of approaching Hotel to see if we could move up stay to next week or so, possibly filling in for near term cancelations. With my luck would get down there and have return flights cancelled. I hate to hope for it but if hotel closes seems likely we could at least reschedule?
We are scheduled to leave May 9 from Toronto. Currently sunwing is allowing customers to reschedule at no charge for trips departing up to April 30. My concern is that Mexico will be a few weeks behind Canada and the US and they will be going through their shutdowns in May similar to what’s currently happening here. We are remaining optimistic and hopeful. See you at the sexy pool!
We have a 14 day quarantine only for certain countries. So far Mexico is still good. May have to stay home a couple of extra days to be cleared by employee health. One of my coworkers just came back from Mexico and only had to miss one day.
I'm more worried about the airlines shutting down and not having a way to get to Mexico! If that is the case then we loose our money on the resort because the insurance policy doesn't cover pandemics!
Still going April 15 unless travel is banned. Just cannont belive how much control our media has over our world causing panic. How is it that other virus's causing 10x more death across the entire world had 1/100 the amount of media scare tactics? I would love to hear from someone in Spain that can confirm people are dropping dead at a rate that deserves this much panic. And I have to say how upset we are at this Bernie Sanders ASS going on TV and saying this virus could cause more deaths than WWII.. WTF.. we need to unplug from this caustic political News Media format that wants nothing but conflict and panic.
Someone posted yesterday that they have a non-refundable reservation and TTR is allowing them to rebook anytime in the next year.
Your travel insurance may not likely reimburse your expenses, including medical expenses, when travelling to a country, or taking a cruise, for which a "travel advisory" was published. Check your own jurisdiction and provider policy language on the definition of a travel advisory (Non-coverage may be triggered simply by a recommendation to restrict non-essential travel, and not a formal travel 'ban', suspension or travel warning). We've cancelled our April trip. Discretionary travel is way down the list for us right now. We're listening to health experts, chief medical officers and officials ... but not the media spinmasters. Feeling sorry for organizations, businesses, workers, individuals and families who will be laid off or financially, medically and otherwise affected as a result of COVID-19. We will all weather this storm with patience, calm, practicality, maturity and common sense. It's not the same, of course, but it doesn't mean we can't still have some fun at home. Take good care @Steve - what are your local officials in MX/QR saying to residents and business owners about the pandemic, do's/don'ts, etc?
Hey everyone. I have a somewhat unique position and point of view as I live in Mexico. I can pretty much say with certainty that the virus is here already and is quietly spreading. I'm fairly positive I have it, but I have texted my doctor and he just advised me to self quarantine as there aren't any tests right now in the city. There aren't enough people being tested and the president of Mexico basically just said its all a hoax and everyone should hug each other... So you can see how seriously it's being taken... The numbers were ran and they're predicting the virus to explode here between March 20-30th. I would absolutely recommend rescheduling or canceling. I promise you you don't want to be in Cancun when this shit hits the fan. Stay safe and healthy everyone
