Good luck to anyone through this difficult time. I wish everyone the best with the decision they make. This really sucks for all!!!
We leave on the 27th. We are still of the mindset that if the plane leaves we will be on it. Today Alberta health minister recommended not to leave the country but it’s not a mandate. Hopefully it all works out.
Alberta Gov’t. Has said that when you return after today it’s a 14 day quarantine. We just can’t afford to do that kind of time. Have fun and hopefully all works out.
We just returned from 3 days of Disney and two NBA games in LA. Going for my swan test tomorrow as I’m sick with flu symptoms. This whole thing sucks big time.
We fully expect that our office will be told tomorrow to work from home as of Monday. I understand a couple of the oil / gas / pipeline companies have already told their staffs to work from home. I saw the mandatory 14 days self quarantine issued earlier today...….that really sucks!
yes. Totally sucks. Can’t the world plan its pandemic around my trip to TTR. Jesus. (LOl). I’m kidding of course. Our hearts got out to all the effected families.
Yeah, not sure about you guys, but we're in an odd situation. Ohio was one of the last states to have a Coronavirus infection, and until the last 12 hours there was literally no change to daily life. Since then, public schools have closed for 3 weeks and all colleges have closed. Mandy is a teacher and I am self-employed so the 3 weeks is all centered around Spring Break...which is when we booked our trip. I can't see a scenario where we close or hinder travel to a country with less than 1% of the total cases that the US has...but, who knows. It's funny that people are "concerned" to go to Mexico, but they have more confirmed cases of the virus in their small state than in all of Mexico.
The lower reported cases is probably due to lack of testing rather than fewer cases. Brazil had their first confirmed case around the same time and the # of cases is higher, including an official that came into direct contact with the President. Mexico hasn’t instituted any aggressive control measures like Taiwan and S Korea and the experiences of other countries, including ours, would suggest they are simply undercounting, esp in the early phase when it’s difficult to detect. As we are seeing in the US, hiding your head in the sand doesn’t work and you will be worse off than if you aggressively test and institute controls. With that said, I believe you are right. The US is in bad shape and definitely further along in some communities. The problem is that at a resort you’re not really getting Mexico, you’re with all of us. We were supposed to leave for Mx city and then TTR for the first time tomorrow, but we’re probably going to cancel. Hoping to reschedule when this blows over. So depressing
We have not cancelled our March 21-27 YET...IF we have to, we’re going to need some new dates to look forward too.... Feel free to msg us your new dates if we had overlapping ones or if you would like to have overlapping ones...!!
