I was invited down to the opening of Mak Nuk Village by the owners (Mike and Crissy) shortly after it opened. Mak Nuk Village was a AANR(nude) condo development that owners bought into and could also rent out when they where not there. Unfortunately it sort of went south for Mike and Crissy politically and financially and they lost control of the property to another group which renamed it Intima and are trying to market it as a resort. IMHO the negative issues with it as a destination resort are: - it's land locked in the middle of the town of Tulum(not exactly a "destination" - lol) - it has limited food and beverage services since the property was originally designed as a condo(with each unit having it's own kitchen, etc) - other than the one pool area there is no real central gathering space or opportunity for on site entertainment. - finally - the location(+ my first point) it is just too remote(2hr transfers each way from the airport) to make it attractive to the majority of individuals or couples It could work, I suppose, for a small group private takeover situation if the group was willing to bear the added costs of bringing in their own entertainment, food and beverages
