apparently the house I am moving into doesnt have cable access - yet , so we are going to get SKY (or somehing like that) .. So that got me wondering , I might not have internet/DSL access or at least for a while

What are my options for the net. I was planning on getting Vonage so I could have a US tel # and recieve calls /faxes for a cheap rate instead of using my US cell.

TelMex provides Prodigy Infinitum, which is DSL. Most of us have found it to be a lot more reliable than the local cable company for internet access. When I had CableMenos it was down on average 2 days per month. TelMex (though I detest them) is much more reliable than that.

And yes, Vonage is a good thing!

Another good thing about Vonage is that you can also call your friends in Cancun on their Vonage phones. Many people just have cell phones and no home phones so this is a more or less free way of calling.

    Cablemas

For the past month or so, Cablemas has been slower than I'd like, but the internet connection has been working...except for a couple brief outings here and there (and one was during a storm when cable tv also went out). I am certainly not a fan of Cablemas, but I haven't had any major problems with them LATELY.

    CharlesinCancun and Susan in Cancun

Are you two related or just have the same last name? And how come Susan has spaces in hers and Charles does not?

Good eye, TJ! I didn't notice that Charles and I have the same last name. :p We are not related, but he is obviously VERY cool if he came up with such a great screen name.
