Y'all , you are on vacation. I understand checking on the the kids, but enjoy yourself. The Internet will still be there when you get home, but the fun times at TTR are only available while you are there...
Telcel has several office. I happen to find one about 2 block from Walmart downtown. I saw several signs on the bus ride to Walmart.
Cool idea! Does that sim card also get you a tel # for that 1 week? my phone is a smartphone.. I could probably use it as the wireless adapter for my laptop and skype the kids that way..
Simcard Yes it gives you a phone #. But to use phonecalls and texting would be charged extra. I don't know how much. Some of the expat living in Cancun can probably give you more info
Telcel I also bought a Telsel sim card Instructions were in Spanish and it said you need a local residence number to activate it. Not sure what I was doing wrong? Front desk tried to help but never ended up getting it set up correctly.
We had a jacuzzi room by the quiet pool last April and the internet service was decent. I don't think I ever skyped though. I was only charged for I think 3 days of the 7. I always asked them to do the 24 hour service thing instead of the full week and they seemed to forget I was using it quite a bit. As far as the peeps that say you don't need to use the internet on vacation.. I wake up at around 7am no matter what time I get to bed and the gal can sleep till about 10 or later (or when I wake her up) so having an internet connection is nice to catch up on emails and that kind of stuff in the early am when nada is going on...
Free Internet We went to the Rio Steakhouse across the street to watch a game and have some drinks and asked if they had WIFI. The bartender said no and then wrote the password down on a napkin. Tips work wonders !!!! Here it is.....9876543211 Wallyworld
the whole point of going to TTR for us is, a holiday from kids and our real day to day lifes. We say goodbye (hugs&kisses etc.) when we leave and missed you, love you when we get back. Inbetween is our time.
