dave and ellie-- bad advice -- trv cks are wide accepted and in some place prefered due to the counterfit money problem. in 10 trips never had a problem with trv cks even with small vendors. this is main reason we due the 50s instead of all 100s. also the security concerns is why we only use a card in limited places.
If Dave and Ellie's travels are limitied to Europe and Northern Africa then they are right Rick. TC are not widely accepted there. But they are still accepted and used widely in the rest of the world. Just real hard to find somedays here in the states. Jamie

Do they accept Discover Cards in Mexico or is it just Visa/Mastercard? Less than 2 weeks to go for us! Can't wait!!
ours is a visa, but as said before make sure you notify the card company and inform them to except charges from the cancun area. we generally add a cuple of days to the end to cover for any unscene delays.
