maid 2.00 or 3.00 a day batenders..........about 15.00- 25.00 / day for three different bars. waiters 2.00 or 3.00 depending on service. we plan for a booze cruise, at least one or two nights out at bars and even though it is all we can drink we tip there to get the best service. shopping ............some drinking a whole lot and fun at the resort.
:icon_redface: Thanks, I've never been great at working that angle...perhaps this trip is my opportunity to practice.
be sure to contact your credit card company a couple weeks before ya go and tell them you be in the cancun area may## thru may## and traveling days. our card will flag unsual charges as suspicious, lucky we had 2 cards that year. never a problem since we notify them of our travel dates and to expect charges between the dates. we normal take $1000 in trv checks(the 50s seem to work better) and 3-4oo in cash. we take 25 in $1 bill per day just for tipping and also use the "left over pesos". just make sure all bills are in like new condition, the local can not use torn, worn or even wrote on cash. we hardly ever spent over 800 per trip
Yeah we did that too in 2007 for our first trip to cancun, let the credit card company know ahead of time, got down there and charged a katamaran day trip and it was denied, so had to scramble and make phone calls. I'm not one to normally complain and I roll with the punches, but I was a little irate after that........ Not to name names but Wells Fargo stinks in that area and customer service!
Just got back late last nite... brought $80 in one dollar bills, $120 in fives, $100 in tens and the rest in twenties to bring the total to $800 for the 7 days we were there. Came back with a smattering of the ones, fives and tens. Had enough twenties left to pay for our food at the various airports on our return trip for lunch and dinner and our parking tab at BWI. Woke up this morning and saw that we had another 4 twenties leftover- enough for a bottle of wine, a bottle of scotch and chinese take out.
Yep, Wells fargo charged me 48.00 to pay for the room for a week and that sucks. I have never liked them as they treat their employees like crap. I had a morgage on my home and because I have such a good credit rating the company I was with sold it to Wells Fargo and neve notified me. I noticed it on my online accout. Totally do not understand why they charge so much to pay a bill in mexico. Don
