We got back yesterday from our 5th trip spanning 8 years. Honeymoon in 2003 and now for our 8th anniversary in 2011. My take... Just as much fun can be had now as in 2003. It's trully just as much fun as what you make of it. Were things different this trip? No not in any appreciable way. People wore their sexy clothes out to PatyO's after Casino Night with no hassles. Saw leather, lace and some next to nothing outfits...not one word was said. It was hot on a couple of nights and the girls might have removed their shirts and even danced for a couple of hours in their bra's...no problems there either. It rained a couple of nights and TTR moved the party into Nice Shoes Bar and kept the music going to till 2am for us. Many nights we stayed out at PatyO's til 4am with not one case of security pressuring us to "keep it down". Saw a massive spanking show around the pool late one afternoon (the girl was the recepient and the asked for the spanking)...security was 75-100 feet away watching but never approached...perfect reaction to the situation Personally was in the Quiet Pool around 2am one night with a group. Security approached smiled nicely and asked us to move our fun (10-12 of us) to the ocean and try to not go out past our waists. Again perfectly handled. No one was hassled or picked on and if you had an issue that needed taken care of, which I did and I went to the front desk discussed it with the night manager, security came and we chatted and it was handled invisibly and properly. Jill and I decided this was our best trip ever. We can't wait to return next year. There really is not a thing needing to be changed!
Same owners, same country. Difference is who is around to see it and complain. At TTR it is much more public, people from outside the resort walking the beach, government officials (fire marshals, health inspectors, etc) much more likely to stop by, people that might be on the prudish side checking in. Desire is out in the sticks, no one walking the beach, officials much less likely to stop by, very clear intent of the resort so the chances of a prude checking in are no existent. Laws and regulations are always enforced by complaints. TTR is much more likely to have complains about nudity filed than Desire. Hence the stricter and less strict enforcement of the laws. We were there last week, and observed several of the same things as Jeff and Jill. :azzangel: An additional incident that would set a few worries to rest--on our last day there, about 12 of us decided to go skinnydipping...in the sexy pool...at about 6 o'clock.:icon_lol: At least four waiters, the bartenders, and two security let it go without a word. Only when someone jumped up to shock some newbies did they finally tell us, politely, that it was time to move on. The only suggestion I would have is that they closed Nice Shoes down too quickly after the lingerie show. It seems like people were just getting in the groove, and having the DJ play even just for a few minutes would have made the whole thing feel more complete instead of like we were being rushed out. My husband was miffed when they made him put a shirt on at Paty'os one night after he wasn't allowed to wear one on lingerie night--consistency would be good. This being our first time, I can't make a really good comparison, but it seemed like security was willing to turn a blind eye if you were being quiet about your antics, and there was plenty of fun to be had! Confused We are more confused after reading this thread than before. I am guessing just like any resort, the crowd makes the fun. We have been to Hedo and Desire (both have PLENTY of negative reviews on Trip Advisor). We were counting on a slightly toned down version (non-nude of course) of those resorts. We are beginning to pack now (leave Wed morning). When we have gone to resorts in the past, we always stay onsite and party there, seems like a lot of attention is to get out to local clubs with this resort. Should we plan on staying at TTR to party, or will we need to go offsite to party in the evenings (excluding Thur as we figure lingerie Party is worthwhile)?
Don't worry--the nudity at TTR is much less in-your-face than Hedo. It's technically not allowed, and those of us pushing the limits were doing so with our own groups (well...mostly...tequila, you know?) And there were people with us who chose not to participate, and that was cool with everyone. The resort staff took people to clubs every night, but we never went since we had a great time on the resort each night. We actually won two sets of free passes to the clubs, but chose not to use them because we were having such a good time at the resort. There were plenty of people staying on-site, and the DJ played good music (he did a great job of adjusting to the crowd). You have your choice every night whether you want to be rowdy, just hang out, or have your privacy. Sorry if I scared you! I'm working on a more thorough trip report.
I meant scared the other way, meaning the beginning of this thread that the resort is in the process of turning into a ho-hum all inclusive resort like all the rest of them. We want to party it up, and got scared that our expectations of party and rowdyness might not be met
