Should just grab a couple Clive Cussler novels. Some of the best out there. And a little something in each one for almost every type of reader.
Reading the Amazon reviews and related excerpts made this author appear 14yrs old. We never laughed so hard as from reading the reviews. A favorite with pictures: The 15 Best/Worst Lines From Erotic Bestseller "Fifty Shades Of Grey" [NSFW]
Did you read reviews on goodreads.com? Some are priceless! http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/340987215 Wigs (The United States)'s review of Fifty Shades of Grey http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/188642096
HAHA! I have a GF that read them, they were a 30 year wedding anniversary gift from her husband who had been talking to the young guys at his work.. they said OH.. get these books for your wife and lets just say there will be a benefit for you, (the husband). This was the funniest thing.. SHE HATED THEM.. she hated the guy ( I have not read them) she wanted to smack the girl.. she said.. NO WAY SOME ASSHOLE is telling me what to do. BIG BACKFIRE for the hubby.. lol.. morel is.. dont buy these books for your wife as an anniversary present.. lol.. however, she did say it was kind of like driving by an accident on the road.. you have to look.. haha!
I like to read books from a variety of genres, however Lord of the Rings is an all-time favorite and absolutely my favourite movie(s). I cannot wait for The Hobbit to be released. If you like that type of book, DON'T read Eragon! It is a 4 book series that I thought was very promising until he failed miserably in the final book (and I waited years for the final book to be written). I have recently read another series that I thought was awesome, but once again the final book isn't due until next year. It is called The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss. I think he is going to finish it strong.
Cheryl loved the Ann Rice series as well as the 50 shades. Perhaps there is a recurring theme that I should be picking up on:aktion047:
ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! My husband and I are crazy for Patrick Rothfuss. And, the LOTR trilogy is my all time favorite movie EVER!! I told you I am a giant nerd. LOL You have no idea how much I am looking forward to the Hobbit. Proof that I am a huge nerd... my halloween costume? Princess Leia! Yeah...Nerd!
Nerd? I prefer technocrat... :icon_wink: I'm also a fan of the Caleb Carr books that Zurc mentioned earlier. Although a bit hard to find at your local Barnes and Noble, I enjoy the works of Thomas H. Cook (ex: The Chatham School Affair). The protagonist always seems to be fatally flawed (and that appeals to me for some reason...hmm...) Also...they are usually not too thick, so they fit nicely into carry-on bags.
I told you that we are going to get on famously! I guess I am a giant nerd as well and that is okay by me; I'm in good company.
Wow there are some really great suggestions for books here...I will definitely be looking into them as I'm an avid reader myself but I'm hoping I won't have much time to read...just sayin
