we are all hoping that everyone makes it in and doesnt have to cancel at all.....we miss meeting you both last year so we are keeping our fingers crossed here for you ....

Lot's of things seem like a good idea when we were 18.

 

There's been some good and bad news today. The bad news is...the ash cloud isn't going anywhere until Wednesday at the earliest but the good news is ......Saturday, two airlines conducted test flights flying at 11,000ft . There was no damage to the plane, no turbulance and the control panel recordings were 100% normal.
They are conducting more today and they are successful they are going to ask the authorities if they can resume normal service. Fingers crossed

 

We are still looking for flights, but if we take another flight then we will have to pay for that flight and will not be reimbursed for the flights that were cancelled.
Hope you guy's get to go, it would be crapy for you 2 years in a row. Did you book direct with the Hotel?

We booked via Imperial Travel, haven't checked the insurance policy yet because we don't want to think about it until we have to.
As everyone keeps saying, there is no way the airlines are going just keep their planes grounded because they are lossing so much money. They are obvioulsy trying to find a solution with the 17 test flights in the past two days so it's just a case of hoping they find find a solution that the authorities agree with.
It looks like they want to fly at a lower level (11,000) until they are clear of the ash which would be about 300miles for most airports then rise up to the normal 35,000ft cruising level.

 

I'm wondering about the Brits that are in Cancun. What happens to them? We just returned this week from TTR and there were several Brits that were due to fly back. The hotel was very full during our stay so I doubt that they could stay at TTR. I think it would suck as much as to be stranded as to not be able to leave home.

 

Our flights just been cancelled now....Bummer

 

British Airways are doing test flights as we type and the goverment are meeting the aviation authorities
