Water at the resorts is filtrated. Water from the tap is fine, just tastes different as does water at any location. The rule on ice is any ice with a hole is good. No hole, not good. Water outside the resorts should be bottled or avoided. When getting a beer, can of coke, or other liquid from a container, be sure to wipe the top of the container to remove any liquid before drinking. That's in case the container was chilled in ice water that is not filtered. Avoid salads or other vegetables that might have been washed in unclean water before being served. Like salad outside of a major restaurant. Just a few pointers. Jamie
Great info as always everyone thanks so much, got our shots as well a few months ago, got B already in highschool but got the A shot as well as the flu shot done. I had a real bad reaction to the A shot though, real bad, glad I won't be needing it again!
No real reason for the vaccine as long as you're not eating food away from a resort area (even Isla Mujeres is OK- big tourist spot). Now when we went to the Dom. Republic... we both got a slew of shots... No problema in Cancun...
the only place i had problems with the water was when i went to isla mujeres at the buffet that was offered with the trip to the island it was very hot that day and when i came from the shopping to where they buffet was served i drank a bunch of water that was at the counter it was in a container that looked like bottled water it had a tap on it it was a while before they served they buffet i didnt even eat the food and on the boat back to TTR i got deathly sick feeling i was sick for 9 days.i had payed for my tour trip across the street from TTR.A totally different trip that my sister n law took with me she bought a bottle of water from a guy that was selling drinks walking on the beach at isla delphinues i bought a apple soda from him and had no problems.so i suggest if u go off the resort carry plenty of water on your trip.
