I have a job working as an English Teacher but get paid very badly and also it is only PT. Timeshare sales or working as part of the Ents staff at a hotel are probably your best options. Those and teaching English are what most expats do that dont run their own businesses. Cant help personally on the room front but for both a place to live and a job your best bet is to book yourself in a reasonably priced downtown hotel for a week or two and scour the newspaper daily. When choosing accomodation make sure you look at at least 10 or so places before making your mind up. Generally the further out from the centre you are the cheaper places get.
