The latest models are in and the call for sunny skies in a day or two and no direct landfall in Cancun :ernaehrung005:
ya know ive been starring at that model and that model and the other two for a few minutes now, I am not even going on vacation, but suddenly everything is ok
Things are not looking as bad now as they once were. The projected path of Hurricane Paula has shifted more Easterly meaning she will most likely be out in the sea as she passes by. Paula is a small hurricane and the winds do not extend very far. Hurricane force winds are currently only extending 10 miles outwards on her Western side (the western side is always much weaker than the eastern) and she is projected to be much further away from Cancun than that (out to sea) as she goes by. Right now, it's very still outside no wind at all, very little rain. But I can hear thunder in the far off distance. I dont think it will be as bad as you think. Contrary to what I posted before (which was only speculation based on tracking forecasts at the time, which since changed significantly) I fully expect the airport to be open tomorrow. Some flights have been cancelled already, but prematurely imho. Hotels are not being evacuated and as for the booze thing well that applies to the sale of alcohol at local supermarkets like Walmart, not hotels where they give it away for free . At Walmart they shut off alcohol sales at 5:30pm. Fortunately I bought 3 days supply of beer around midday and since schools are already closed tomorrow and I dont have to drive early in the morning that 3 day supply is taking a little dent right now! Have a great trip!
Hey guys, Looks like Cancun avoided disaster... at least by the looks of things from New York. This may be the first time I can remember where every one was Happy that a chick headed to Cancun was all talk and Didnt Blow Anyone ... Sorry, Bad morning humor already lol
Thinking of you all, hope goes well and nothing to bad happens. Take Care and we will be thinking of Cancun.
The resort prepared for the worst and it had us worried. Boarded up Tex Mex and put the all deck loungers away. Had us bring in balcony furniture, got the boats out, etc. But it just rained and flights were leaving by noon on Wed. All except US Air which I was on. They cancelled Wed. flights but I was able to get out today with the weather looking great.
