To clarify, I doubt it will be a hurricane by the time it has crossed Nicaragua and Honduras and reaches the ocean again. Once there depending on how weak it is (my guess TD) it will need to speed up again to make hurricane status by the time it gets anywhere near us. I'm not sure there is enough ocean between us and Honduras for it to do that. Also crossing land tends to send these things a bit haywire - the tracking path could look very different in a couple of days. Then again it might not.
That's the hell of it, isn't it Steve? We're putting the finishing touches on our usual hurricane season preparations, here.
I agree with Steve. Crossing land, especially mountainous terrain, will mess with its tracking I think, and will weaken it. We won't know anything about what we're in for until it emerges over water again. But what's this? Is it really that hard to dust off a couple of passwords? You are funny Steve.
I smell sarcasm. True, that's the easy part. But then when we get 60,000 uniques in a day like last time and the server is on the verge of going bang bringing half my network down with it, multiple International press interviews and a gazillion comments and emails wanting to know how xyz hotel is and what happened to Aunt Betty - that's when it gets to feel more like work than I'd like it to be
People don't seem too concerned, yet. I was in Commercial Mexicana, buying the last of our hurricane top up kit, and the store was deserted.
thursday night.. Just found this board.. you all look like very friendly folk.. of course, I'd be friendly if I lived in Cancun as well We are going to Secrets Silversands which is about 20 miles south of Cancun on Sunday... hopefully our flight isn't cancelled.. it looks like the weather forecast for Post-Ida is clearing up and taking all the clouds with it so after Monday it looks good.. I know that when it says 30 percent chance of rain down there for November that usually means 95 percent sun.. but Ida may change things.. Hoping it weakens much more over land before it kicks back out over water... cross your fingers Greg
Greg we just spent our aniversary at the Secrets Silversands and we loved it. I hope you have a fab time. Tracey
