We are 5 days before they know if it is going to hit anywhere in the Caribbean much less Cancun or the US. There are several models that have it turning north and going up the coast. Its just way to early

There's also another system a few days behind this one that is likely to become Hurricane Jose, it's a little further south than Irma and another one to keep an eye on.

If you're traveling soon it's going to be Monday or Tuesday before there is any kind of accurate prediction regarding Cancun so I wouldn't make any hasty decisions before then.

This is projected path of Irma but still too early to tell and subject to change.

Yeah, its so wide open at this point that I'm sweating being able to get out on the 10th for a business trip to Milwaukee. If it's going to hit here right after I leave, I can't go away. So best case scenario is that it decides to die where it is and NOW! :)

So what happens at Temptation when there is hurricane-type weather that is bad but not considered bad enough to evacuate?

If it's not bad enough to evacuate then it's carry on as normal. I've only known the hotel to be evacuated once in 15 years.

You do not have to worry about Hurricane Irma impacting Cancun during your time frame. The steering currents will pull the system north as it passes the Lesser Antilles directing it towards the Eastern US, at which point hopefully, it will be directed offshore. In the highly unlikely event that the steering currents change and it is directed towards the Yucatan Peninsula, the forward speed of the storm puts the system at least 8 days out from Cancun. Enjoy your trip!

I agree the storm following Irma is the one we need to worry about it is starting much further south and has a greater opportunity to go into the gulf. I am worried a little about Irma and the east coast of the US, nothing can be done but prepare so that's what we will do.
