Thought we might ask this question of Floridians, or anyone else with more flying experience than us.... We planned to fly from Orlando to Cancun via Atlanta Wednesday morning. Looks like, now, the hurricane will hit Florida Monday/Tuesday and possibly stall out a little bit. What are our chances that our flight will be cancelled/delayed?? We only planned a short, 3-day trip, so even losing one day is going to suck!
That would suck to miss any of your time on such a short trip. Did you get trip insurance? If not I would get it if you can.
Chances are high. Call your airline. They tend to move aircraft out of the potential path the day or so before and then it takes a few days for routes to get back on schedule. Both Atlanta and Detroit have Cancun flights but your Orlando flight would be at risk.
If you don’t already have trip insurance, they won’t sell it to you. Imminent hurricane insurance companies run away from
PLEASE verify what all that covers. My wife works at a call center for MasterCard and all she does is handles claims. All issuing banks have different policies. She gets a lot of calls where people assume they’re covered for things they aren’t.
Did verify that only our flights would be covered, hotel wouldn't. Making arrangements to get out of Orlando sooner so that we can get a flight out of another city.
Try calling the credit company again...any incurred charges that are due to a cancellation for a covered reason ( including inclement weather) are covered if you have trip cancellation/interruption benefit on the card that you used to purchase the trip
We always get Travel insurance that covers so much more, especially if medical attention is needed. Our trip for 9 days this November cost us $170 which I didn’t think was unreasonable, but those type policies usually require you buy them within 14 days of making your initial trip payment. Even though we’re going at the end of hurricane season, you never know..........
