We haven't used it yet (we booked for Feb 9-16)but after we got our confirmation we called the resort and our reservation was confirmed with them. This web page is actually part of Fun and Sun Getaways Travel agency. We researched them before booking.
Here's what I know so far: The website takes you to Sun and Fun Getaways. The representative said they're a travel wholesaler. I did freak out because I did a web search, and that company didn't come up--the closest I could find was a "Fun n sun" agency in Texas. The process was this: 1. go online and choose your dates. When you hit confirm, you get a pop up box with a confirmation number and directions to call a 1-888 number. 2. When you call the 1-888 number, an agent will confirm the dates and locations and tell you the total price with tax (which does make it more than $99 a night) and then take your card info. 3. After taking the card, the agent sends an email with the terms and conditions. you have to click on the link, check that you agree to the terms. Here's where I got nervous: The first link mistakenly was booking me into TTR Cabo rather than Cancun. The terms of the Cabo reservation did require a timeshare presentation. I pointed the error out to the agent, who sent a new email confirmation. The Cancun one said nothing about a timeshare. I clicked it and booked. After reading here, I panicked and called back. Got the same agent at the extension he had given me, and grilled him about whether there was a timeshare pitch expectation. He assured me there wasn't, and reconfirmed it with an email. Then, I called the credit card company, worried that if it were a scam maybe the Cabo booking wasn't an error--maybe they were going to charge me for two trips! No charge had been put through yet, so I'll check it tonight when I get home from work. Hopefully, there will be one charge. I also have to wait for the official confirmation number for the hotel. He said that may take up to two weeks, so I'll definitely be checking for that every day.
WOW very detailed! thanks! but yes please keep us updated............how many days did u book and what was the total cost? and when are those days scheduled? Rhonda :aktion030:
I'm very curious as well how this works out for you because if somehow its real and you don't have any issues, I see us being able to easily take two trips to TTR a year lol
You don't have to book with a travel agent in person to be safe, just be sure they reputable. We use a travel agent (Global Dream Vacations) in Oklahoma and we live in western Canada.
I just did it for 4 nights in March & it shows $396, says the rate is per room, not per person, has anybody actually used this? If it's legit, I'll be using it !!
Just confirmed with the credit card company: Sun and Fun Getaways sent just one charge (not 2 as I'd feared) for $465.30 for 4 nights (that makes it $116.25 a night.) Yes, the price is per room, so that $116 is including food and drinks for two people. We're reserved 3/25-3/29 2013. S&F also sent a new confirmation email today to reiterate there's no erroneous Cabo reservation and that all is correct with the Cancun reservation. When I get the TTR confirmation number, I'll let y'all know! Also--found the cheapest flights by going to the Southwest site, which then booked me onto Airtran. Got nonstops from Chicago for $591 each (ouch!) but they're at good times. Expedia and Kayak were listing the lowest nonstops as $717 on the same dates--leaving Cancun at 7 a.m.
there used to be a banner on CC that offered the same deal. i had it saved to my favorites. It DID require the timeshare pitch. i just clicked on the link and even though its a diff company name it looks like the exact same web layout. i actually called them a couple years ago and asked what would happen if i got down there and refused the "tour" anf they told me they reserve the right to charge the full price of the rooms on your card. hope that its not the same for people that booked through them. http://temptationscancun.net/terms_conditions.asp
Hi Frank! Thanks for the heads up--I grilled the agent about this and have in writing there's no timeshare pitch... :whisper:And I'm not above reporting my card lost and getting a new one issued before the trip so they can't "surprise" me once we get there.
