Before we head from our winter (ugg) to a sunny spot, we hit the tanning beds. Usually a month or so before we leave and it looks like that's the norm with most. I (Laura) have overly-tanned the seat more than once. Not good..Lotions work for me but I think going a few extra time does the trick without having to fork out the extra $$ for lotions.
i'll start tanning a few months before the trip. I like the stand up units vs the bed. It is easier to tan areas like under the arms and in general move around.
I like to lay down and relax in a bed, and then have the occasional stand up tan to even everything out and get the hard to reach areas (under arms, etc). Probably start about 1-2 months before the trip. This year i'm so excited about going, I want to start now, which is 92 days away!!
300 mins account for how many tanning sessions (also standup machines or lay down?). This is the technique we thought of, however we were thinking more along the lines of 6 visits before the trip, spaced 3 days in between and 15 mins in duration (standup).
Do you all tan before hand so you don't burn?? Just wondering, never really happened to me except once for falling asleep while tanning!
15 minutes in a stand up around hear on your first visit will turn you into a Lobster. Always ask the receptionist on their advice . The age of the tubes is also a huge factor.
It does..lol.. but we are naturally tanned so we can take 10 to 15 mins on standup even from session 1 (for those with white skin 10 mins I believe is the max recommended)... One time we did 20 mins and end up burnt, so never doing that again...
I go daily for two weeks prior - and 9 minutes is the max for the stand up bed at the place I go. I need to do more in that one, even though it is really hot, because I now have a white line under my butt cheeks from the bed! I'm blocking my face until the last 4-5 days, just trying to get my body dark - but have the white line from the level 3 bed because of trying to "condition" my skin against sunburn (the high pressure beds are great for color, not great for preventing sunburn in the tropics). After my microdermabrasion appointment tomorrow, will start including my face by Saturday - by Thursday next week, I will be ready for fun in the sun, even though we have not had any sunbathing weather in Seattle since early Sept.!! I seriously hate nanny laws, NY really just wants to poke their nose in everyone's business! Hi, I'll have 3 16oz. sodas to go instead of the super size, but I'm drinking all three anyway - ugh! I get the logic behind people wanting to protect the "stupid" but it is a slippery slope, and sometimes what you like becomes what they restrict, and these laws never really solve the problems they are trying to prevent. Just like Utah restricting mixed drink orders to 1oz. of liquor, but you can order a "sidecar" shot and pour it in your own drink for a double - stupid!! 15 min in some beds is pathetically short for tanning, and in others it is WAY too long - just really stupid laws that make more victimless crimes to clog up the legal system /stepping off soapbox
