My credit cards all charge a 3% intnl fee so I try to never use them and error on bringing too much cash. Plus I can't deal with making dinner reservations and having a schedule on vacation so I usually give the host 10-20 to sit us so that increases the amount we need. I buy red bulls and a nicer bottle of vodka from across the street so more $ needed there. If you have to pay cash for transfers or forget something that could add to the cash need. If you are going on a Boobs Cruise add more. And so on. So it depends on your plans. For 3 days I would bring $400 made up of 100 1's, 20 5's, 10 10's and 5 20's just to be safe. Getting change is a pain by the way. But if you have less of the situations I list above then you should be fine on $300.
What is everyone tipping for? (reservations @ dinner, bartenders, wait staff) Did I miss anything? and how much for each service?
We usually leave 50 pesos for the maid, tip 20 pesos to the pool bartenders every 2 or 3 drinks, same at Paty'o's.
Not my tip , some one elses last year 7days ,,?,, bring 7 envelope and spread your tips out over 7 days into the envelopes. Sometimes i get drunk and start overtipping, this way you can mange your tipping. Its easy to overtip the service is so good .
how much money you bring depends on what you plan on doing. if you stay at the hotel the whole time, a few dollars for tipping at each meal & for the bars is good. you do not have to tip for every time you go to the bar. i suggest you learn the bartenders name and greet them by name every night as they watch you put a bunch of singles in at the beginning of the night and they will take care of you all night. also, we were very generous with the housekeeping staff because they took excellent care of us. that being said, approx $40-$65 a day. if you leave hotel for anything, bring as much as you want.
no less than 500 cash. Depends on how many days you leave. We left one day and we figure 150-200 to leave for whether it be bars, excursion etc. We only planned one day out last night. But ended up scuba diving so we had plenty of cash.
