We usually stay for two weeks at an all inclusive and figure $100 a day in spending money. Some days you won't spend that much and others you'll spend much more. Last thing you want to do is go that far and start penny pinching on your vacation. Not only do you need to figure in the cost of bars, taxis or bus transportation, the occasional meal outside of the resort, tours, souvenirs, and such but tipping. Many of the people you interact with will go above and beyond to ensure that you get what you need and really enjoy your vacation. They don't make really anything on salary but depend on tips to meet their bills. So don't be shy in rewarding outstanding service. So given the amount you are taking, you should be good. And if you do have some left over, there's always the duty free shop on the way home to pick up a few items. Jamie
CAN SOMEONE HELP?? IM GOING ON JULY 8TH-JULY 22ND WITH A FEW FRIENDS. WE KEEP GETTING TOLD ITS BEST TO CHNAGE OUR ENGLISH POUNDS TO US DOLLARS RATHER THEN USING PESOS.......SO CAN ANYONE HELP US ON THIS PLEASE!!!! XXX
You guys spend lots of money. We go a couple times a year, and stay at AI's.....We only take a few hundred dollars cash, plus $50 one dollar bills for tips. Shopping, any outside dining, etc....is done on our bank card. We usually do a couple bars, and My place a couple times during the week stay. As far as exchanging your pounds.....You are going to a country that uses peso's, so thats what I would exchange it to. We tip with dollar bills, but we usually exchange most of our cash into peso's.....but american money works just as well.
Dear Welsh guys your money will be ample trust me just keep about 120 dollars for the exit tax at the airport. Even with trips out and about you will have enough. Dear Chantelle change for dollars and then you will get change in pesos from your dollars when shopping or dining out for tipping or other stuff. Pesos or dollars are acceptable for tipping. Do not forget the exit tax now about 50 to 55 dollars for each person. Some english firms were including it in the price but that seems to have fizzled out or they do not tell you up front. Have a wonderful time coley
There's absolutely NO reason for you to change to dollars and then change to pesos. You WILL lose money in the two exchanges. Just go straight to pesos...or just take enough for the first day or so and then take money out of the ATM...always a better exchange rate.
