Just think in terms of $100 peso's equals pretty close to $8.00 USD. 12.5 pesos to 1 dollar. 25 pesos to 2 dollars ect.
It was easier when the peso to dollar was $!0 to $1, right Gonzo. Another way Jenn could figure in her head would be just using a 10 to 1 ratio and then knowing it was a little cheaper than that. So $100 pesos would be $10 but a little cheaper, although as Gonzo says, at $12.50 it would be really $8. The fly in the ointment is the changing rate. The dollar is falling in the world currency market (thanks a lot Obama) and yesterday the bank rate at Banamex.com opened at $12.30 and closed at $12.24 (pesos per $1USD). I don't do the Cambios (casa de cambio) but they will be less than the bank rate. Last I checked they were about $.20 less, so we are now talking about $12 pesos for $1USD. Your hotel rate should be better than the Cambio rate. But it is still pretty simple to just divide by 10 and figure it is a bit less than that. God Bless America.
