I usally tip the bartender when i get there for the day. For the most part I will go to the same guy, he will know what I want and how I want it. If you tip him well and take some time to get to know your bartender, even if there is a long line and he sees you he will go ahead and make your drink first. I treat them like they are friends of mine no just employees of the resorts. Most of them have been there a while and are really great guys and fun to hang out with.
We tip on one of the first trips in the morning, and that takes care of most of the day. After a day or so, the bar staff remembers you well. I have never seen the bar staff turn down wet $$. We also carry some cash for lunch tips, jewelry off the beach, etc in our bag. Enough for tips like that, but not enough that we would be devastated if it got taken. Be smart, and keep track of your stuff, and close up your bag when you are not there. We have been to TTR over a dozen times and never had any problems.
Like BB & AB said...The bartender will accept wet or dry $$... And they are all great guys. You'll see them through out the resort in the different bars... They move around. When you get there...Say " HI " to them...They will be your best friend at the resort...LOL... So have fun...
Agreed. Also 10 pesos (approx. $1) is in coin form...I kept some in my bathing suit pocket for tipping. Marsh
Well my boobs are saggy...so I just tuck the money under them.   (KIDDING!) I keep it in my camera case.
Thanks everyone for your input! I have a few more questions... Miked- how much do you give the guy in advance for the day? When you are carrying a bag or camera case, do you just leave it with your towel while you are in the pool? Like a butt bag or beach bag? Guess it would help if you are with a friendly group and they can watch out for each others stuff. Thanks again, Kathy
It depends on how long I plan on being by the pool. On a full day i have tipped as much as 20 dollars, but that was because the day before they took really good care of me and all the people that where with me. The average on a full day for me is about ten.
