It's about 2 hours. Going there wasn't too bad because you're pumped for vacation.. the drive back to the airport was a long drive!!
Hedo March 10 to 17 CJ & I will be there from March 10 to 17 if anyone cares to hang out (pun intended). This is our first Hedo trip but the prep is almost identical to TTR but more of the group is on Facebook.
There bus ride is about 1.5 hours. We would highly recommend taking Tim Air, short flight of about 15 minutes. Well worth the expense.
Memories .... The only thing I remember about my ride from Mo Bay to Negril was drinking beers and having to pee so bad !!!! The 1.5 hour +/- trip was only punctuated once with a quick stop. Jonathan (Gringo)
Hedo is pretty cool. I would give it the thumbs up and recommend trying it at least once. Slightly different vibe to TTR, but hey, its a different country and aimed at a different market. Sometimes there's heaps of singles, sometimes its mainly couples. Sometimes there's wild sex everywhere, other times its more subtle. I had an eye-opening experience when hanging out with a bdsm group for a couple of days. Life-changing, actually... Lots of groups seem to go there, so hunt out one that tickles your tockles. Ive been there both as a single and with my better half. I'll second Boston Mel's advice and say def explore the place while you are there! It'll open your eyes and your mind if you are looking to explore and not just drink and party. There is some fantastic things in that country. I try to allow an extra week for exporing. It's also a good recovery P.S. BosMel, you are on my bucket list to meet one day.
I guess we are in the minority but we dig TTR more than Hedo. We went in June during YSW. -The bus ride to hedo is long, really long, and if they are busy you may wait to fill up all the buses and vans for luggage. -check in at hedo was chaotic -as a whole we felt the food was better at TTR. At hedo we never knew when one of the restaurants would be open. The shows at hedo are amazing though. -J loves to dance and hedo has a very small, dark room where they play music - We like forming relationships with people we hang out with, at hedo there is a lot of indiscriminate acts. So if your interested in partying more than other stuff then I think TTR is better. -hedo separates with the groups, so plan your trip around the group your interested in. We went during YSW and a older group that kept to themselves. -both hedo and ttr have bad beaches, but we did like the water activities included at Hedo Bottom line- we enjoyed hedo but we wanted the TTR party people with the hedo rules.
As I was telling people at Hedo about TTR ...they were not even considering it. People at Hedo are sure that there is no better place than Hedo! Most were referring to TTR as "kindergarten". I think the reason is people I talked to - were a lot into lifestyle, they enjoyed nakedness, PDA, open sex and public orgies. So TTR for them was tame. On one of the Hedo threads someone who traveled to Desire was writing a review and called it "naked Sandals" (Sandals is super vanilla resort adjacent to Hedo, lol).
We are thinking of taking the plunge and visiting Hedo. Are there good travel forums (like this one) with good discussions? Also, where are good places to find travel groups? I checked Char travel and Castaways, but none of them have trips during the dates I'm wanting. I don't have a Facebook or Kik account but I did find some good info at www.adulttravelforum.com
we are heading back to hedo this feb to celebrate his 50th, for us we enjoy the freedom that we don't have at TTR. Hiring a private transport cuts the travel time and worth the $110 return. Love the open air playroom at night
