Yeah my mistake. Let's start again, PDANet on the iPhone is what I'm using. It re transmits the wifi outward. But you need a jail broken iPhone to use it. Or us ours whilst we are here.
Yea it requires some skills I guess I didn't have in June. I too have a HooToo Tripmate it looks different than the one shown above. I have used it as a hotel router several times. I tried to login at TTR so I could share the WiFi with both our phones. After several attempts and a couple of hours of cursing, I gave up. On almost the last day of our trip I meet a guy that is an I.T. Security specialist. This guy tells me all I need to do was spoof the Mac Address using the device I signed up withs Mac Address and assign that to the router. LOL he was using a HooToo also and it worked great...he said. Also we streamed Sirius last year with no issues at all. Jeff
I honestly don't know if the resort has made great strides with their WiFi or if I should give all the credit to my HooToo that I purchased on the advice of this forum! By using our HooToo we were able to connect 2 devices flawlessly! The data rate was amazing! It was by far the best results we have had with TTR internet. My theory is that the HooToo is more sensitive to receive the resort's WiFi signal and then it re-transmits it to our devices stronger to make it more solid. Advice: If your device has ever been connected to TTR WiFi, clear it's memory of it. That way it doesn't try and default back to it. It will save you a little frustration. Once we cleared it we had perfect connection immediately upon power-up! -Joe-
the weather there is beautiful the gorgeous lady I have at my side when we're poolside and the bartenders that do their best to keep my Bubba filled are more than enough reasons to keep me off my devices. I go to relax and get away from the outside world it's like I go into a technological time warp at TTR. For me it's like a place where I can't get a signal all week long. For all you that have to stay connected to work on your holiday I feel sorry for you I really do. I know people that have to in order to make things work and it's not for me, a simple I'm on vacation and I'll get back to you when I get back is what I say before I leave. Life's way too short not to stop the clock every now and then and sit back look at your SO as I want ito nclude all couples ( good advice for the singles too just look in the mirror) and say " you are the most important person on this trip and whatever you feel like doing today we'll do and I promise no one else is going to interfere with that"
Internet I don't mean to be a fun hater or stupid but really...its like 35-40 bucks for a code that lasts a week cant remember exact price from April. Seems like a lot of dicking around to save a couple of bucks. See you all In November and again in February.
wifi I turned my phone off when I got on the plane. My wife added the AT&T international for $30 with unlimited texting. My office could text for emergencies and we liked having access if we had an urgent situation pop up on the home front. Honestly, it felt great not using the phone or internet for a week. The most fun and relaxation we've had in a long time. :icon_idea:
Is this confirmed? We have AT+T and the last 3 trips to Temptation were a wifi mess (most recent trip June 2015). We bought the AT+T "International Passport" package which was like $30 for unlimited texting and 120MB - That 120MB goes quick when you're posting pics on Instagram + FaceTiming with your kids. We were thinking of making the jump to T-Mobile, but if AT+T considers Mexico "local" now, a switch won't be necessary.
Verizon I just got off the phone with VZ. I got something new called a "travelpass" for $2/day. It gives me the same plan I have in the US. For me that's 900 min, unlimited text, 4gb 4lt data. Now if it just lives up to it's ad, I'll be good to go. I'm leaving in 3 days. Gotta go! I better go unpack something
