Yay!. He'll like it. More of a hotel than Ambiance. Pools are great. Staff is great, beach is okay. Not as wide as Ambiance, but real sea front, so there are waves and not the endless calm of Ambiance. All rooms face the Caribbean. Views are terrific.
Mixz1, thanks!!!! He isn't one to spend time on the beach, but I know he'll love having an Ocean front room. Nothing better than hearing the waves crash at night. Do you know if they allow non guest to come and go, or would I need to get a Day Pass? Again, I appreciate it all the feedback
I don't know, but since they are owned by the Park Royal next door, I would assume yes, because the Park Royal is fairly strict about non-wrist-banded people. That would mean you could visit, but you can't get a towel or food service for yourself. Of course if your dad scored two towels... Socializing at the bars or in the restaurants might be clumsy if some do-gooder staff member does his job and asks about the ID. But what's the worst that could happen? They can't banish you from Cancun. They can only ask you to ante up, or leave.
Solymar. Cheap, in hotel zone and not crowded when out running early in the morning or during the middle of the day for that matter.
Thank you all for the well wish. It has been a long process, and it's time to take the plunge. As for the Hotel ordeal.... he is now back to going to Ambiance. All other places are out of his price range...he really is THAT cheap. He waited a day to book and the prices went up. Oh well. I am glade he is at Ambian. He's a little closer to Cento, and I also wanted to check it out for the future. The other places you recommended would have been great, but i guess not this time around. I will keep them close though. THANKS AGAIN. And I hope to meet some of you in the near future
HOTEL ZONE RECOMMENDATIONS My wife and I have gotten into the habit, during our first low season here, of spending at least two nights a month in a hotel on the beach, either in the hotel zone, or at Isla Mujeres, taking advantage of the specials that have been offered. Your recommendations on this thread acted as a stimulus to that plan, and made it possible. I wonder if there may be other places, not yet mentioned on this thread, that you have found to have value like these, combining (relatively) low priced accommodations with access to beautiful beaches and water? We're open to suggestions!
As an FYI, it is not called Ambiance Villas anymore. I passed it the other day and I think it's called Ocean Breeze...or something like that. But, my Dad loved it alot...so thanks to those that recommended it.
