We are members and it depends how much you paid and ow many times you but if you pay more than 5k is not worth it and pus I don't see this as a time share is more like a discount card that makes more sence to have for Desire resort example desire resort 450 per night I'll pay about 220-250 per night

Like someone said before every contract is different and depending on were you are flying from it can make sense or not. You do get a 15% discount on the airfare if you book thru the travel agency that is part of the package if you have that option but once again some do and some don't. When you take out the airfare the cost per couple per night is $100 AI for our deal and we can use it as may times per year as we want. I can't stay at home for what the cost is at TTR now. The program before was limited to weeks per year and never made sense for us because we go three time per year. After 10 times of being there, we knew what we wanted and didn't want. They changed it and now makes alot of sense for us finanically. Not to mention the discounts on other non TTR travel that we can take advantage. The programs always change so there is no standard contract on package.. If you know what you want when you go to talk to them about signing, it helps alot. If they need you to make a quota, they will be very flexible and give away the world. Just need to stand firm on what you want and what you expect to pay and if you get it then so much the better for you, if not then you got a couple of pretty good strong drinks in the premier bullpen while they pitched it to you.

articulated very well. . . .but the great unwashed still refuse to believe that members can be happy. some are obsessed with refuting the merits of membership, no matter how many times it is explained or how specific it is explained.
    they will remain memberphobes

I don't understand why no one seems to be buying memberships/points secondhand. It looks like there's a huge secondary market for this stuff (and timeshares in general), and it all seems to be going for much less than what people are paying at the resorts themselves. Am I missing something?

Haha, no - I'm new to Cancun, and I've been reading about all the timeshare/membership/points/etc. sales pitches that the resorts try to push. It all seems very scammy. I can understand (barely) why people buy them if they go to the same place every vacation, but I can't understand why anyone pays the resorts' asking prices (other than a few too many drinks at a presentation) when so many people seem to be trying to get rid of their purchases. I mean, resorts wouldn't pitch them so hard if they were losing money!

because you are buying an existing contract, with previous owner's conditions withstanding. Generally you want to negotiate your own perks and addendums.
It is a hassle to re-open a contract usually.

you can resell a timeshare if you wish. In general though, it's not something you buy and flip for a profit. So yes I'd say if you are going to buy one then make sure you want it.

Fortunately I have no intention of becoming very religious or something that would make me not want to go there anytime soon so I plan on making use of mine :)

Yes, registered "real" timeshares can be sold and bought.

However Premier membership contracts are not timeshares.

For those that own a Premier membership contract here is a question for you - are you allowed to actually sell you contract to a third party ? and would Premier honor the sale and conditions of your contract to the new contract owner ??
