Does anyone have any news on the post-Dean condition of Isla Holbox, and more specifically on the Villas Paraiso Del Mar?
I have no specific information, but a fair assumption to make is that since the island is even further away from the storm than Cancun I'd guess it didnt fair too badly.
The port is not officially opened yet, but a friend of mine who owns a house on Holbox heard from her caretaker that his cousin snuck over yesterday and the island is doing great and basically no signs that a storm even went through
Actually the port is open. My friends returned (legally) yesterday afternoon and reported that their home came through without a scatch, palapa roof and all. (Laura, my info came from the horses mouth. Eddie was waiting in Pto Morelos for word that the port was open and he got that word around noon yesterday and headed back-ex wife, dogs and all) Your hotel will be fine if you are going there even today. Today Eddie reported that businesses were reopening today but that the supply ferry had not yet run yesterday or this morning but that they were expecting to get food and other supplies today.
Thanks to everyone who responded. I finally got through on the telephone to our hotel and was told that Holbox did well through the weather, but as of today (Thursday), the restaurants were not yet open and several hotels were still closed as they are all waiting for employees to return and food to be restocked.
