Are u 4real? I had 3 locals come up to me wen i was down there I was walking home from pat obriens drunk as shit in a really pissed off mood and 3 locals came up trying to get my money n I flipped sh*t and they ended up running off lol I was not in the mood to be fu*k with at the time lol
a guy in our hotel was walking back from the clubs on the main road and got stopped by the cops... they made him put his hands on the car, and then they took all of his money. do....not.... walk... back...to....the...hotel.... alone...!!!! you are just easy prey. Just like in any city. get on the bus, get back safe. if you are f'd up, try to stick with a buddy.
Shit, sorry to hear that Fletch. Where exactly did it happen? I'm afraid at times like Spring Break then there will be the inevitable underclass who come looking to make a few dollars in the HZ with a quick smash and grab. I must admit I didnt think the Police presence was as heavy as previous years from what I saw, which surprised me. Royale, I think you're totally wrong in saying that it's worse downtown. Have you even been there? I look like any tourist but have lived downtown for going on 4 years. I've had one problem in all that time and that was from a taxi driver bringing me home from the HZ. Anyone who wants to mug someone is going to go to the HZ to do it.
ah its my own stupid fault dont take any of the blame for it or anything and steve to be hoenst im not sure exactly where....but i ended up walking a bit farther and meeting up with an english guy who also fell victim to these guys a few minutes earlier. We then flagged down the cops who then laughed at us, gave us 10 pesos for busfare and then left.....unreal
Sorry again Fletch, at least the cops gave you bus fare home the only advice I can give echoes what Dennis said. Stick with a group as far as you can. If you do find yourself on your own (it happens) don't walk far, take the bus from wherever there are the most people hanging around and it's busy. I also recommend to never take a taxi solo, especially girls. Bus with other people everytime.
First time in 3 years but i got robbed pretty bad around 80 dollars and a mobile phone. I was a sitting duck really as id had a drink in the City which made me black out and pretty much be unable to move properly when i was fine before so some sick was what looked to be trying to take advantage of the girls i was around with and got me instead unlucky :lol: got out of city and ushered into a taxi i thought the guy was being nice obviously wrong doesnt put me off atall as i was alone so had i been with someone it wouldnt have been such an issue. i concur with the downtown bit Steve i went down to a few bars with the guys that work in Hardrock Cafe was awesome atmosphere down there and not any trouble atall.
My car was broken into when I was there. They did not get the subs, and luckily the amps were screwed into the sub box, so they were not stolen either... but my DVD deck, 6" TV, and ALL of our CD's... gone. That's what sucked, that all my CD's were stolen. No matter though I guess... cuz now my collection is better than ever! 5000+ songs on my iPod. Disclaimer: I do recognize that it could have happened just as easily here in the States.
