Just have to chime in real quick.

Testing positive twice is not rare at all. I am a RN State Health Facilities Surveyor and it has been quite common.

If you are worried about contracting the virus and giving it to your parent who watches your kid, then stay home.

Masks don’t work. It’s a bandaid that I abide by so I am not attacked by the twenty something cashier at Kohl’s, like the lady yesterday. I was appalled for the woman and my state has been pretty much open the whole time.

Thank you, Steve for the reviews so we can understand the process. Sounds easy peasy!

Omg....we need this trip in a couple of weeks. Cannot wait to feel the sun, relax with my love, and meet new friends and see old ones on Week 8!!

We’re booked for April 11-16. Any idea how busy/lively we can expect it? Think it will be busier?

Since the 26th we have been watching Facebook and the forum for reports of a “positive” case reported from the resort. Seems that there haven’t been any, you would think if there were “positives” that those people would be posting their quarantine diary for all to read. Haven’t seen any other reports of positive cases from some of the other resort groups we are part of. Is there any first hand knowledge of people having to quarantine in Cancun whether from TTR or another resort? Our trip is still planned as of now for April 4-11!!

April has always been one of the busiest months.
But will have to see what 2021 brings.
Still lots of Canadians, English, and Europeans who may not or cannot travel due to restrictions in place.

Just finished our trip and the covid test was easy. We stayed Thursday to monday and when we checked in they gave us a paper with an appointment on Saturday at 1:15 which said we "needed to be there." Not sure if you can change the day or time. Went to our appointment, filled out paperwork and were tested in 10 minutes. Tests came back negative as expected. Keep in mind they will email you the results and you will need to get them printed and signed by the doctor. The doctor isn't always there so don't wait until the last minute. As a side note I was talking to the driver on the way to the airport and joked about being able to buy a negative test. He laughed and I said you probably know where to buy them and he just smiled! I can't confirm you can buy them but I also don't believe you will need to if the resort does the test. Good luck to everyone going!

Pretty sure they can’t make you take the test. You just have one before you get on the plane.

I'm aware of more adjectives, I think the one I chose was pretty tame. :)

Let's be realistic, most 78 yr olds aren't exactly the sharpest knives in the drawer. 40 years past their prime

Quick note about the current situation, as it actually is in Cancun and not what the wider media and Facebook would have you believe.

The only hotels that are at 50% max capacity are the ones that didn't have 50% occupancy to begin with. Does anybody believe those that had bookings >50% for this time frame have been turning people away? Does anyone know anyone who got rejected/cancelled/refunded?
    • Gyms are closed, but they aren't.
    • Nightclubs and bars are closed, but they aren't.
    • Restaurants are at 50%, but they aren't.
    • Hotels are at 50%, but they aren't.
    • Mask wearing outdoors in public spaces is compulsory, but isn't
Maybe, extrapolate that for the testing regime.

    It is what it is.

Either enjoy a vacation or stay home and don't worry about other people's decisions that don't affect you.

Pic below is of the Superbowl last night, outside Coco Bongo. Senor Frogs was much busier.

According to the CDC, you have to test within 3 days, not 72 hours. They give an example of having a 1pm Friday flight. A test from anytime Tuesday will work.

That said, if you have a 4 or 5 night trip and really wanted to avoid quarantine (not that i condone this) you could do a rapid test at home the day before you left(which is a good idea anyway). You would then test 1 or 2 days into your trip. If for some reason it was positive you could book a flight home that day (or the next if its a 4 night) using your negative test from home as it would only be 2 or 3 days old. This isn't good for those traveling next to you, but if it wasn't for the testing you would be doing this anyway. Again, not that you should do this but if you are worried about being stuck in mexico.
