I am so happy to announce that the Hard Rock Cafe will now be a drop-off site for toys for Christmas for the children in Cancun. Señor Xavier Migueiz will be setting up a Christmas box for all the toys collected. Please remember our children here....our beaches are beautiful and we do live in Paradise but we do have many people that need help and many children that may never see a new toy for the holidays......if not for YOU! We have accomplished so much and made a little bit of a difference to so many, and with very little effort! A few toys in your suitcases can make the difference in the life of a little boy whose mom is dying of AIDS, or a little girl that has severe neuromuscular problems. We visit the children in the General Hospital several times during the year to deliver stuffed animals and coloring books and crayons. This year, we have the children of the members of the "Learning to Live with AIDS-HIV" group, a school for severly emotionally and physically handicapped kids, 2 orphanages, 1 family and, hopefully, I will be able to find out the names of 2 of our firefighters that were killed this year during the Plaza Las Americas fire. I think it would be nice to cheer up their Christmas a little if the children had some new toys. I'll let you all know how that turns out! A MILLION THANKS to everyone that has helped and continues to support our drive. On behalf of all the children whose lives you`ve made a difference in, a BIG SMILE RIGHTATTCHA! Nancy Claus
Nancy, The names of the fallen fire-fighters are José Roberto Barbosa Montiel and Raúl de Jesús Peraza Cortez. Hasta luego... Ruben
Thank you Ruben...I will need to get the ages of their children so we can give them some nice things for Christmas. This Christmas will be difficult enough...we'll try to make it a llittle easier on the kids with some new toys!
I was at the Hard Rock Cafe today at Plaza Forum and was SOOO happy to see the Give A Tiy Get A Smile Banner placed above the entrance. Inside are 2 big, red Christmas boxes to collect toys in. We are asking the tourists coming into Cancun to please bring a toy...or 2 or 3. All of these toys are going to local children: Children from families with AIDS/HIV School for children with severe mental, physical and emotional problems 2 Orphanages A family of 6 children, under the age of 12, that live with their Grandma The children living in the jungle, an hour or more, outside of Cancun. We collected over 900 toys last year and would love to be able to give out more this year. With YOUR help, it is a definite possibility. To everyone that has brought in toys, a GREAT BIG THANKS! And for those of you that are coming to Cancun, please help us help the less fortunate children in our area by bringing a new toy for Christmas! Thanks for all your support! Nancy Claus
