Just the facts please. Difficult to assess when people may be talking about other oasis resorts or trips from years ago. I don't quite understand the pay for safety point. Please explain. And for those that just visited would love to hear more about general condition of rooms/resort, did the pool look like a fun scene and large enough but intimate enough to host a TTR like party, hottubs?, pool bars?, restaurant options, whether grand vs not grand really means anything, is it a timeshare setup, etc Thanks in advance!
We will check out GOV in December as well, I think the competition part of this will be a great benefit for all of us. I beleave some of the big critics of GOV are the Premier members of TTR, and rightfully so. If large masses start heading to GOV that would kinda suck if you had a premier membership at TTR....just my thoughts..............
We went just to check out the GOV during our trip to Temptations last week. The first thing we thought was that the rooms were beautiful. (All are ocean view and some have balconies.) They were exceptionally clean and modern. The 'club' type bar seemed great - it was daytime so I can't say if it would be great with the music going and full of people. I will say...Nice Shoes smells bad so we usually don't go in it anymore. This bar actually smelled great. We didn't try the food but the restaurants seemed very clean and bright. (With the exception of the "blind" experience...which is the place that you eat without knowing exactly what you're eating...obviously that would be dark.) They offered several different types of restaurants as well as a wine bar and coffee bar. I didn't ask about the time for bar or food closing (it didn't occur to me to do so). The pool areas seemed nice although I wasn't sure there was sufficient chairs...but that could be remedied easily enough. I believe there were only 2 pools (one of them alongside a sushi bar). The beach seemed nice but to be honest, I wasn't really checking it as much as I was the interior and restaurants. They have "bracelets" to indicate what level of participation you'd like on a personal level. I think this was how they went... Green...I'll do anything. Orange...I'll try. Red...No thanks. The one thing I will say...there was NO pressure...the general manager, Mario, indicated that there was no time share. I'm not sure if there is something similar that allowed him to honestly answer that question yet have other "plans" that will be offered. When we were there, they were welcoming and there was ZERO pressure. We have been to Temptations 16 times and the Time Share pressure is the ONLY reason we are even considering anything else. We were accosted as soon as we walked in the door to TTR last week and despite several "no thank you's" from us, one of the time share people continue to follow us insisting that despite the fact that we're familiar with the property and what it offers, we HAD to have their information. I love the staff at TTR...but the Time Share people are ruining the experience. Maybe we could convince the owner to find another way to 'offer' the Timeshare membership and keep the repeaters coming back. Let me know if you have other questions and I will see if I remember the answers about our visit to GOV.
I messaged Oasis Viva on some of the above concerns and received this in response. Here is my email: I have a couple of questions, I would appreciate an answer from the Resort please. I am thinking of staying with you, but a few things will stop me from staying with this property and others in your chain. 1. Does Viva charge for safe's in the rooms? What are the costs? 2. Does Viva only have food and alcohol until 1am and then one must pay for it to be delivered? 3. Is there a charge for the internet? If the above is true, you have lost the interest of so many future clients who are looking for a Grand experience. I was just on a forum, where everyone is so looking forward to your new concept. As of 5 minutes ago it was posted that the above, questions 1 and 2 are true and every person who planned on changing from our current hotel has said they would not change if the hotel has the above policies. Thank you The response: 11/1, 1:37pm Oasis Viva Hello Kimberley, For now we do charge extra for the safe in the room, the rate is $7 USD per day and we also charge extra for the internet. Regarding the food and beverages, we only serve them until 1 am but you can order Room Service to get them. Regardless, we are going to implement a "late snack" until 3 am on December as a plus for our new concept. We are also hoping to get approval from our management team to modify this for next year and include all those services in the all inclusive plan. We will be posting on our website and social media all the changes and servicies we will offer with our new concept. Hope you can come and enjoy our resort, best regards.
yep!! And the snack will be a greasy burger!!! At 1am is the time when the party started!!!! Oh Geez!!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Isn't the only thing you can get after 11 at Temptations a greasy burger? pretty sure that's about all I saw until we left there yesterday.
At TTR you can get burgers, fries and drinks until around 3. You can get limited deserts until around 12 I think, or whenever they are all eaten. Then you can still get the bartenders to pour for you(with limitations) until they are fully cleaned at around 5-6am. I would have to say that at the GOV, paying for the safe thing really doesn't bug me that much. The killer of all of it though is for sure the drink/service stopping at 1 if it is for sure true. That is a deal breaker. You have to know that if you want your patronage to be there you have to listen to the wants. They have listened for the most part as it seems by taking the stance against the 23 and below age group. If you are going to take this stance though, WHY! would you think about forcing your clientele out on the town to fall right back into the same problem and be pissed again? I would be very intrigued to see first hand or have someone with some pictures for us. Everything else seems to be tipping our interests for our next trip.
from GOV website Now this is what the fuck I'm talking about!!!! WOW! to get some definite answer on the above "problems" would be nice, then I would say I would give it a try for sure! SEXY,SEXY!!! Cancun Luxury Resorts, Adults Only - Grand Oasis Viva | Oasis Hotels & Resorts
I'd say we aren't going to know for sure what their new policies will be until they do it. They're likely sorting out details themselves as we speak, as seen in the response to Mexicotraveler's email.
