It looks like they started north of the portillo and did a good job on that side of town, cause everyone wants to see the streets around the crucero! Then they got a bit bored by the time they reached the 'nice' side of town and thought 'f* it lets just do the main streets and go get drunk at dady o's guey'
Down here in the south it seems they got fairly intense. My street is covered every 3 meters or so and Kulkulcan seems to be heavily covered as well. I saw them on Coba about a month ago, just a plain Tsuru with the camera array strapped to the roof. Google hires indie contractors to do the work. Interestingly, there are places that have strenuosly objected to and rejected Google's street level photography. All of Germany, as I recall, and several villages and towns in the UK, including the Buckinghamshire village of Broughton, where the inhabitants formed a human chain to block the camera car. At the beginning, there were a few cases of people being caught doing things they shouldn't have been doing, and the result has been a massive effort by the programmers at Google to automate the blurring of all faces and license plates in their street view shots. The security guard at my condo was upset by that, as he wanted to be immortalized on the web.
Matkirk - You are too funny. I did see the Google car on my street about a month ago. And yet my street is not in Google Street View, at least not yet. I hope they don't put it in. The bad guys don't need any help casing houses. Of course I'm not worried about my house as I have these well-trained killer attack rescued street dogs here.
I think it will be really handy for those "what's the name of that restaurant on the corner of...., across from....?" questions. Now if only they had the technology so we could enter the restaurant on Google map, look at the menu, and order servicio a domicilio, that'd be awesome. haha. ----------- There are several sites like this one with funny/strange/illegal things caught on Google street view. http://www.urlesque.com/2009/02/05/top-10-moments-caught-on-google-maps-street-view/
