She wrote a wonderful review! I'd just like to add or comment on a few things. The mens side of the spa, women are aloud in their locker room? I didn't know that or my husband would have been in the jacuzzi and mini pool together! The wading pool outside next to the pool is too deep to lay in and tan. The water comes up to about the calf. If you put a chair in it you might be okay though. And about the walk to the main road. It can't be more than 2 minutes. unless you have a cane, lol.

They must have done a lot of renovating since then, because i stayed the 2004, 2005, 2008 and now will be going back march 2009... and they have always been tip top! Love this place!

We sit in the wading pool on chairs....works nicely.

The only problem we have with the Golden, and have been there 6 times, is that they need to start putting some money back into the resort. Many of the rooms are very outdated. They are the #1 occupancy resort in Cancun. Please put some money back into it!!!!

I think this last December was our last visit to the Golden. I will stay at the Great in the future or maybe one of the Riu's, but no other hotel will make the list for future stays in Cancun. Or we may head a little farther south to PDC or Cozamel

Jack...if you head south to PDC or Cozumel, we recommend the Riu Palace (great beach, excellent service) or the Barcelo a little further south (also a very good beach and a little more laid back). Neither one is "adults only" like the Golden P, but we didn't see many kids at either.

There are several good AIs in Cozumel and Wyndham has a couple of properties that are designated as "adults only" including one our daughter and son-in-law are considering going to in a couple of months called Sabor. For a video about that property, go to If you go to Cozumel, be sure to head over to the east coast and eat at Coconuts (and be sure to check out the photo albums!).

Heading to the GP April 11

hey everyone, new to this site and new to Cancun....hoping this trip will be better than the domincan republic last year....anyways, reading through some of the 25 pages of posts, it looksl like i may have picked a winner this time!

i'm 23, my gf is 22, and we're going with our friends who are 23 and 21....2 couples....so for all of you repeat visitors....can any of you guys point me to things to do for the week, places go visit, any good places outside the resort...stuff like that. we're down to earth people, up for a good time, but came here to avoid the high school spring break crowd.

we are the same age group, same hotel, and looking forward to the same! lol. I would recommend going to aquaworld for snorkeling, or subsee explorer, or the wild twister boat ride. Parasailing looks fun but i hear on occasion people dont make it back home after trying it. So I'm scared to lol. What week are you going? Maybe we can show you around?

7 days, 14 1/2 hours for us, not like we are anxious! I can't help much on the excursions, as we usually hang around the resort to relax.

If you go toone of clubs, go with the staff. That is only my opinion. I have done it the other way and was very disappointed.

A trip to the island (Isla Majerus) is very nice and a lot of fun. Four can fit on the golf cart and the trip over there is very cheap. You could spend as little as $100, for both, and have a lot fo fun Good luck.

Go with the entertainment staff to the clubs. You get VIP seating, a waiter for your group, etc.... CocoBongos is a MUST do. $45 per person, open bar.

You can go down to the Great Parnassus. They have a shuttle every hour. They have a nice adults only area on the second floor on the west side. Great place to get late day sun, and its never busy. Plus you can go topless there if you like. The entertainment staff at the Great or wonderful. They all used to be at the Golden.
